« on: August 17, 2011, 08:50:31 PM »
Just read this news over at Hodinkee.
May he rest in peace :-[

http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2011/8/17/breaking-news-gerald-genta-legendary-timepiece-designer-has.html

In very sad news for watch fans the world over, legendary designer Gérald Genta has died.

We have received confirmation of his passing from multiple sources and are awaiting further details.  For those who don't know, Génta was responsible for a handful of the most iconic watch designs of the 20th century, including Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak, Patek Philippe's Nautilus, IWC's Ingenieur SL, Universal Geneve's Polerouter, Omega's Seamaster Constellation, Bvglari's "Bvlgari Bvlgari" and several more.

We will update this post with details as they come in.

Sad day indeed. He created two of the most iconic design ever, the AP RO and PP Nautilus. May he rest in piece.

Still remember was with Peter at the Bvlgari boutique in SF admiring one of his watch.

Without him, AP would not have a sports collection, without him Patek would not have joined the game as well.
His Bvlgari Bvlgari design was so simple yet no one thought about it and still as beautiful today as when it was launched years ago.

Pics below are taken by Z3 of Purist forum last year and shows Mr Genta himself visiting AP booth wearing a RO.
