The new OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Collection
« on: July 18, 2011, 04:11:12 PM »
"The Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.50 mm Chronograph is equipped with the exclusive OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300/9301, the first chronograph in the brand’s revolutionary family of in-house Co-Axial movements."

Still too new to be told. Exciting nevertheless.

Exciting by the use of the 8500 and the new 930x family of co-axial movements... but less excited with the prices...
WUS reported it at usd6050 for the 3 hand version which is creeping into Rolex territory.
Granted that alot of Omega-philes will say that Omega's co-axial movement is better but the Omega vs Rolex arguments are never ending right?
Love the ceramic bezel though... and the liquid metal in blue as well

Same here, prefer the previous version more 'understated classic look' but new 1 got better engine?

Agreed. Prefer the old model. New engine better?? I am quite sceptical.

Well, I like the new Chrono with "12" amber color  If it is selling at USD6k++, then I think is a little bit aggressive

Well, I manage to try the new Omega, but the price is like SGD10K++, it is quite thick compare to the existing model. The AD I visited only have one, one and only one, the display one somemore

If the price for a normal three hand one is below RM20k, i'd give a very serious thought to it. I love the blue variant on a blue strap.

I went to the Omega boutique at Pavilion a few weeks ago, and it still didn't have them. Said to be coming end of this month? ???

Appearance wise, the non-chrono new PO wouldn't be much of a difference with my current PO, sans the bezel. So I don't see a point of getting it (in my case, of course). The chrono, on the other hand, based on the new engine, is a different ball game altogether. I'm intrigued by it actually, and interested to know the retail, which I'm not surprised if it goes to the other side of RM22K.

Come on Omega, surprise us! :Praying:

Aren't the blue variant titanium with liquidmetal bezel?
The normal Black and Orange version now comes with ceramic bezel.
And for all new POs, the 6,9 and 12 markers are now applied and not painted.
I have only seen pictures and they do look good.
But you know how pictures are sometimes...
Have yet to see them in person.

read somewhere that the Co-Axial movement is over-hyped. a longer interval between service is just advertising it seems. Omega is asking too much for it anyway.

the opinion of most is that the Rolex 4130 is somewhat the better chrono movement out there and is even better than the El Primero it replaced. i guess only Rolex lovers would agree.

let the flames begin!

I find the new PO Chronograph quite nice
actually, and the Ceramic bezel is certainly a
welcome addition. I miss the painted
markers though. :)

The fact that Omega is producing new movements
is fantastic

I suppose this is what Nicolas Hayek has envisioned
for Omega. To be able to compete with Rolex they
have to step up with their movements. Which is better
will always be subjective, and there is a long list of
competitors like JLC, Zenith el Primero as mentioned,
the cal. 39 of Glashutte Original and the new B01
movement of Breitling

Which is better is always a subjective matter.
No point saying this is better than that as the arguments or differing in opinion from watch enthusiasts will be very long.

IMHO, it is always best to say this manufacturer came out with this technology or new version or improved movement etc. Will it be better than its competitor, who knows? It is just another movement.

Manage to try on the the 42mm 8500 PO in Denmark. Retailing for DKK31100 before 19%VAT rebates

A really well made watch with beautiful details and movement finish. Sits a bit high on the wrist due to the display back. A great alternative to the 14060M or 16610 if you're considering for a diver within the price range.

Infact after rebates it'll cost less than both the brand new 14060M and pre-owned 16610.
