Hair on the dial!
« on: July 17, 2011, 05:34:24 AM »
I have a friend who discovered a very tiny snippet of a hair on the dial and wishes to get rid of it which means opening up the case. Now,I would leave it as it is since it is a delicate fix and in the hands of an incompetent watchmaker,it might come back worse off with other problems/scratches.It was not pleasing to his eyes.

Anyone knows a trusty and competent watchmaker who can do this?
Thanks .

No more warranty la bros.Looks like it was there when bought new.Seems like it happens to expensive watches as well.Anyone else out there has experienced this? Went thru some of my watches and sad to say my eyes are not good enuff to spot any :(

if you shine a torch onto the watch face you will discover all sorts of things. On my  1yr old Ball i found a short fiber or hair stuck on the end of the second hand. Not visible to naked eye so i left it alone.

Sharp eyes indeed

OT a bit. In my line of work, if someone tells me they found a piece of hair in their food, i would ask "is it straight or is it curly?" "if it's straight, then it's not much o a problem. But if it's curly then................"  :Laughing_on_floor:

So you should ask ur friend if he can make out the tiny snippet of hair is straight or curly  ;D

terrenceterrence, it sure looks curly to me...can you spot it at 6 o'clock? Its visible from certain angle.

So guys what do you reckon? would you leave it there or have it removed? Any trusty and competent watchmaker to recommend?

Besview, thanks for initiating this thread.
