The 4th GS in my mini-collection
SBGH 001- the latest 36,000 vph calibre which debuted in 2009/2010
One of only 2 modern serial production 36,000 vph calibres, the other being the Zenith El Primero which was introduced in 1969
Supremely accurate with a perfectly heat-blued second hand..second hand is almost as smooth as a Spring Drive.
GS standard for Hi Beat is -3 to +5 secs/day....compare that to the COSC specs.
In actual daily use, the rate of my SBGH001 is +1 sec/day.

If you had read Hattori's interview in the latest QP, he said that Grand Seiko is the best effort from Seiko and to him, their Hi-Beat 36,000 vph is the best movement of Grand Seiko.

Close-up shot borrowed to show the beautiful heat-blued second hand

Thanks Loo.

The colour is actually a cross between sunburst silver and white depending on the angle and lighting.

Referring to your earlier question on date change for GS Automatics not Spring Drive, the date for this particular piece starts to change at 11.35 and at 12.03 it changes instantly to the next date.

It's this fella's turn to go on duty on this rainy day
Pardon the wrong date as adjusting the date in this piece can be a pain
