The strap is not water proof but it is water resistant for at least 2 hours. It is the characteristic of the crazy horse leather. It will get wet but it will not get soaked with water if you don't get it wet. The watch was in the show for about 5 to 10 minutes. The strap was a little wet but not soak through. It dried up pretty fast, even in the cold. I like the material and will indeed buy more straps from this material. The watch did get very cold though. Cold enough to make it pretty uncomfortable to wear.
