One of my grail achieved!

Now the more "commercial" one, Daytona, still waiting to get...

Hey, Peter,

I am with you.

I have tried all the rolex sports but not the Daytona....hopefully one day....will materialize..

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

Its easy to consolidate if you REALLY want it.
Sell off a few and i'm sure you can get the Daytona. But end up less watch to wear la haha.

I would not say that the Daytona is the holy grail of all Rolexes. The Daytona were unpopular when it was first introduced and this remain the case until 1986/ 1988. This changed with the introduction of the 'Paul Newman' Daytona and subsequently the Daytona with the Zenith movement.

Personally I would only consider Daytona with the 4 digit reference as 'holy grail' more so those without the screwdown chronograph pushers.

Daytona Reference 6240.

Daytona Reference 6262

TheHobbit - wow, now the real sifu talks. thanks.

Zitan - The 'common' daytona ss is roughly rm28k - 33k on the used market. which I believe is within your reach upon saving. good luck.

As a proud owner of a Valjoux 7750-based watch, the above remark is deeply hurtful. :D
pardon me for my ignorance statement what i mean is i may end up with other brand instead of vc or lolek... i was the proud owner of valjoux 7750 based watch too

Dennis, no worries mate. No offense is taken.  :D

Mind asking, is Daytona the one to get in Rolex? ???

Zitan, I guess it all boils down to your preference. For someone like DC who has tasted the sweetness of all Rolex sports model, the Daytona might be the one to get. But for those who has not even smelled the bau of Rolex, even a Sub might be the most sought after for, or a GMT-Master, or a Sea Dweller, so on and so forth. The question is, which one is the one that you want? Unless you yourself know the answer, no one would be able to tell.

The SD Comex and the Milsub would not be a nice addition, it will be a great addition. Love these watches....

The SD Comex.

The Milsub.

Or any one of these. And no, they are not the same watch. There are differences.

Thanks for the pointers, and I like this guy mentioned "Original" and the font "F" differences, the font thickness...
