Peter - IMHO. watch winder/s are but a novelty. when its new, you readily to use it, give every slight occasions. After some time, once it wears off, I would be too lazy to put the watches on the winder.
For me, i would just pick up the watch, adjust the time and will be on the go. (If it just for only 1-2 days usage) For a longer period, I shall reset the date. Because of the resetting situation, I still preferred non-date watch for weekend use.
Putting the watch on the winder - is like wearing the watch everyday and hence the wear and tear syndrome.
Yen - is correct to advise that - its ok to wind your watches once a month. Its actually fun doing so.
