Divers Dilemma
« on: June 10, 2011, 11:40:12 PM »
I feel that i'm all alone sometimes when it comes to wristwatch topic. I think the only people who could understand my dilemma are you guys in this forum. :Blue: So guys, please help me pick one.

1. Seiko MM300
2. Longines Legend Diver ND

My heart tells me to go for MM300 but my head tells me to go for LLD. Please help  :Praying:

Owners of Seiko MM300, will servicing the watch be an issue?

Both watches are great watches. Go with the one that sings to you. Since you ask, I always go with the heart. Servicing should not be a problem as the Seiko service center should be able to service the watch.

In my opinion, the mm300 has a more sporty and robust feel and look to it. As an owner of the LLD, i think the LLD is more of a dress diver as it is very thin and can slip in under the sleeve easily. If you want a versatile style watch, go with the LLD. The MM300 has a more 'macho' and sportier feel of a diver to it. But between the 2, i'd go for the MM300 since it is harder to get one here unless you can find a pre-owned or you buy from japan. As to heart vs head, neither would be wrong but buying watches is all about the feeling so follow your heart.

To be honest, it's gonna be difficult for anyone else to help you in your dilemma without them knowing what you're looking for in such a watch. Thus, without having the benefit of knowing such details, if I were placed in your place, I'd choose the Seiko over the Longines. Having said that, it's a bit unfair for them to be compared actually because they're not in the same basket. One is a pure diver while the other is, as G.MAC put it, a dress diver.

Appreciate the response. This is the first time i have heard of the term dress diver and yes that make sense.
Well actually, i have more or less made up my mind about the MM300...and then my wife came into the picture and prefers LLD strongly.  :Laughing_on_floor:
Anyway, congratulations to those who have both watches !

I could fully understand as to why the wife would prefer the LLD over the MM. That's why I can ask the wife which underwear would better suit my physical dynamism or which color would make the wall paint more cheerful, but never with my watches. In fact, she doesn't even know or care what watch I own or wear. That's the much preferred way to live the life of a WIS

Dexter, if yr wife is the Finance and home affair Minister, then you might not have a choice. Otherwise, go with what you like, since you will be the one who wear the watch and not yr wife. It is always a dilemma when choosing the watches, cause you will always come to the cross road. And most of us here can feel that.. ;D

If you get the LLD, likely both you and your wife can wear the watch. Just a thought.

Initially i thought of a two page comparison but.. to cut it short, go for a sub (the blue pill). The rest of the forum member will love you  hahah : The MM is like the red pill.

quote from matrix..  Morpheus: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

It bloody deep leh the hole 600m, 1000m, spring dive Grand Seiko.  :'(

Which is sad really. Seiko does make good if not great watches. At least they, Seiko, is one company that caters to the needs of a cross section of the public. You want cheap Seiko, you can get. You want expensive Seiko, they also have. The problem is that Seiko seems to keep all the good Seiko in Japan (but slowly changing) and to a certain extent to North Asia.
