Battle of the Two Tones
« on: May 28, 2011, 11:33:48 PM »
Had a great Saturday hanging out with Sshark and Dennis. Talk cock and window shopping. Must be age catching up with me and after trying on the TT 16523, it can't leave my mind ever since.

Dennis was hunting for a Ceramic TT Blue Sub for a feel on the wrist. Surprisingly there were none to be found in 2 THG and Dick*** branch. But what we found instead were blue Smurfs. That is way beyond our league now and the none of us dare to get a Smurf before Sshark. That is after all his dream Sub.

What I realise from today's sojourn was:

- Surprisingly the Black TT Sub is more available. Guess Blue is still the clear winner in the TT Sub category.

- The Heritage Chrono's interest is officially dead and buried. Plenty were found in the ADs after the initial euphoria.

- Omega is really giving Rolex a run for their money and doing great things with their movement. But how are they to fight with Rolex in the prestige category (in the mindset of the layman), remains to be seen. The next few years would be very interesting indeed for these 2 titans.

- Kids nowadays are rich. Seen 3717 and rubberclad Cartier Santos on their wrist. Not to mention 2 young men in the Omega AD discussing about the orange PO with the SE. Wish I had that kind of money when I was that age.

- The 3 of us are wearing all the variations of Subs on our wrist. Me with my ND, Dennis with his Sub Date and Sshark with his ceramic Sub. We were joking that since we were all looking at TT's, then maybe the next GTG down the road everyone would be having some gold on our wrist  :Laughing_on_floor:. with age, comes old man taste.

So now the question. Black or Gold dial 16523?

Must really admit that I am growing old already.

Yep, kids these days are so lucky.

The 2 tone, black dial Daytona would be my choice. Very nice watch!

No, I prefer a "modern classic" since I cant afford vintages. Still prefer a zenith 4030 powered daytona with an inverted 6.

Also I like slimmer markers compared to the newer "fat bullets".

Black dial. But seriously you dont look too old that you need for it to be TT. A SS Daytona would still look really good on you.

 ironically in this case, I am too poor to afford S/S.

As they say "Daytona is the only watch that is worth more when you remove all the gold"

Maybe a T/T can match the wife's DJ  ;D
