Hard to say about the prices. Have you seen the new Explorer II? You can see on the Rolex website. Some people like the new hands some people don't. The important question is which version sings to you.

Not sure when it will hit the stores but am sure early prices will be high. Once the initial demand is over the price will stabilise. Based on past experience, the price of the out going model tends to go up as the stock dries up and stabilise.

for ease of visual to the new rolex explorer II .. offical web site link

http://www.rolex.com/en#/rolex-watches/basel2011/the-new-explorer-ii/specification-black-dial

Actually i do like new design of the hands .... broader reminding me of omega broad arrow somewhat .. (i really love the Omega Broad arrow 1957 ... fantastic looking watch with the neon blue numerial and hands .. retailing S$8250.00 with xxx% discount .. wow wow wow ... currently no stock) ... i prefer orange over red anyway ... guess this is gonna love or hate thingy ......

I expect the price of the new one to be between 8 K plus Sing ? ... i would buy a dssd ....   :HammerHead:

The look of the new Explorer II is a 'mix' of the vintage Explorer II and old Explorer II.

The new Explorer II.

The vintage Explorer II.

The old Explorer II.

In Taiwan, the prices of pre-loved Explorer II has gone up slightly.

New or old also it is a rolex. Either way, price of the watch would not crash. The only thing i am a bit stuck at the moment is black or white? White seems to be the signature color for the vintage explorer II but i am more of a black dial guy. Guess i might try something new and get the white one.

If I may stick my nose in a little. What's the diff between the Explorer II and the GMT II? Both seem to offer a secondary hand for a second time zone  ??? Aside from the design, of course.

Rotating bezel on the GMT II. So technically it can tell 3 time zone? Steel bezel vs. Ceramic.

meaning Explorer II is a `GMT' for 2 time zone and the GMT II is 3 time zone?

I suspect that is the price with premium if you want to be one of the first to have the watch. It was the same with the GMT IIc when it first came out. Wait a couple of months.

just have to wait a few months +- 6 months. Price will stabilise by then. I remember when the DSSD was first launched, there was a frenzy and the first batch sold at around RM38k. The question is that does the feeling of being the first few to own the watch justify and make up the extra premium you need to pay?
