« on: March 21, 2011, 08:00:57 PM »

1. u guys recommend to buy which model?
2. should i go for second hand? if not, y ?
3. why most of the watch lovers like Panerai?
4. Should i buy it from Singapore or Malaysia?

your reply will be very much appreciated. thanks

1. u guys recommend to buy which model?
Go through the catalogue/photos and price list and choose the one u like and also the one within ur budget. Buy the one u like and you'll be happier instead of just buying any watch within ur budget and be left hankering for another.

2. should i go for second hand? if not, y ?
If the price/condition/specific model is the right one and you do not mind, why not?

3. why most of the watch lovers like Panerai?
Not "everyone" likes Pam.

4. Should i buy it from Singapore or Malaysia?
Any ADs or trusted/reliable parallel/re-sellers would be fine as long as you get the specific model you are looking for and the price is right

the range of models and prices vary too much for anyone to give you a recommendation. set your budget and narrow it down to a few models and then maybe it's easier for everyone to give an opinion

2 cts - Choose between auto or handwind. For all Panerai starters , the Historic models is a safe choice, bcos its the entry level model to determine your passion for the brand. IMO, PAM is a love or hate affair. Something like Alfa Romeo.

Check out Panerai official website and you will be able to find all the authorised AD for Malaysia and Singapore. Also you can see and read all about the available models that Panerai offers. As for the retail prices, visit the AD and they will be able to quote you the prices of the models you are interested in. It is best to visit the AD as you can see for yourself, try out the models you are interested in (assuming they have it). If not, try searching the Internet and you will find some 'hard core' Panerai website where they have resource section in which you can find the prices in USD or Euro.

All the best with the hunt.

Walk to AD not many units available...

Some one new to pams.... All model look the same, end up buying what sales recommended n available at the ad
so u r either too lucky to hv the rare one but 90% chance u get a hard to sell model... Lol

my 1 cent.
Do some homework b4 u go to AD
most watch forum recommended the following historical models
which has proven it's reliability....
1. Luminor - pam000, 005, 111, 112, 176, 177

2. Radiomir - pam210, 183

First of all, why do u want to own a PAM if u think they all look the same? Do u really like it and appreciate it or u want to buy a PAM coz for some other reasons?

Since PAMs doesn't come cheap, I rather you do some homework b4 getting it!

1) We need to know the budget for recommendation
2) Type of case (Luminor/Rad/1950/44mm, etc
3) Movement

Good luck!

I disagree with the analogy...alfa romeo is sexy and drives like a dream...PAM is huge in size and presence...a Land Rover is more appropriate  :Laughing_on_floor:

Currency should be in RM since if it in SG, the price would be slightly absurd and too high.

i think there are a few dealers in klang valley who have quite a large range for panerais.

for pams, it is important that u see them in flesh and try them on.

although they look similar, but they are very much different from one another.

if your budget is below 15k, then u  have the 0 and 5 which are the best bets and basically fly off the shelves. i have never seen a 0 and 5 in an AD LOL. these models are their "BASE" models with no complications or functions whatsoever (manual winding also).

if your budget is below or around 20k, then u can try the 111, 112, 312. basically more money is spent because u get additional features like display caseback, and maybe even a date function and automatic winding with the 312. on the 312 you also get the very nice and sexy 1950s case.

if your budget is around 25k, then u have a lotttt of pams to choose from. you can choose special editions, vintages, etc etc etc etc.

my advise, go view them first, but don't be swayed by the salesperson. after seeing what u think u like, come back here and tell us what u have seen.

I'm sorry but I dont think you can get many SEs for RM25k unless its at retail or its one of the Boutique editions(either way its quite hard to get )...as for vintages...Its upwards USD 100k....for 25k USD maybe you can get some of the Pre-Vs like the Mares but they are not vintages..

RM25k budget will get you a few contemporary models or some historics with spare change for straps. The Panerai website whould be able to guide you. As for the price list in USD/EURO/GBP, you can get from Paneristi (you can use that as base for reference)

yep... you need min USD30k to get nice pre-V like 201A..

for me, it is all about your personal preference, how much the pam suits you and not how much it cost...

Happy hunting....

Erm... this might sound like a noob question but can anyone provide a crash course on panerai watches?
What does the model number mean? 000? 005? 111?
Is the higher the number, the more complications hence more expensive?
All I know is PAM 000 is the base model, a must have if you're serious into Panerai...

its just a model number. nothing exclusive. Maybe it also has something to do with year of production?

it's jsut model numbers.

easiest way is to jsut go to the official website and put ur name and address for the catalogue request and then wait a week or 2 and you'll get a giant full coloured catalogue

https://www.panerai.com/secure/s_contatti.xpd?id_sezione=11&id_lingua=2&mode=new

the MRSP prices are not secret. try googling up the latest price list.
