Panerai PAM00367
« on: March 21, 2011, 01:48:27 PM »
Another special edition Panerai for the Chinese market. The same watch as the Panerai 'Fu' but they have changed the 'Fu' with the normal Arabic hour marker. Looks like the Boutique edition watch minus the 'pig' on the dial. The dial is painted dial and I understand the font used is almost the same as the PAM0001A. Solid case back as it is fitted with the Panerai OPII movement. Retail is about RM14,000. Pretty good value if you ask me. Only 500 pieces, 'Fu' was 1,500 pieces right?

The watch.

From my understanding, none whatsoever. Plain vanilla back.

Base from what I can see and told, the differences between the PAM00111 and PAM00367.

1. The lume colour, faux patina vs white
2. The lume on the hands are longer, almost to the tip, much like PAM0001A
3. Dial: sandwich and painted
4. Movement: OPII vs OP XI (basically the same base but different finish and swan neck
5. Being picky but strap
6. Box, no extra strap and screwdriver
7. Font, closer to PAM0001A or even Pre A 001 (so I was told).
8. Special edition
9. Price. It is cheaper as compared to PAM00111. Same price as PAM0005 (well here in Taiwan anyway). HK price is HKD 34,500. Not a bad deal for a special edition. Cheaper as compared to the boutique editions.
10. Case back the same as PAM00005 except the logo in the center is outlined and there are two logos on the case back (I was told by the boutique).

If not mistaken, there will be extra strap and screwdriver unlike the 366... it's price the same as 005 in Shanghai.

I was told by the local boutique that it does not. The box is very basic. Just the watch. Just like the 366. Any idea if the boutique edition comes with a normal box or the larger special edition box? What about strap and screwdriver?

Well, I was informed the price premium over the 366 is that it consist the additional rubber strap and screwdriver. Frankly speaking, my source is from Shanghai boutique and yours from AD in Taiwan. Well, we will not know until we see it!

I am guessing that the watch is already selling as I see some reviews and comparison on Chinese watch websites. Dsiewmy, you say that you have been waiting for so long. When was the watch announced? Same time as 366? Would you know if it comes with an extra strap and screwdriver?

i think it was 2 months? just after CNY not long.
i was enquiring about 366 n they told me the waitlist was closed.

then they hinted on another watch and asked me to waitlist for that piece.
turns out it was the 367. to be frank, i waitlisted without knowing how it looked like.
LOL, the power of PAM poison

the PAM367 is part of the historic collection and is a manual winding watch.

we don't call winding panerais lower-end, we like the politically correct term -"historic".

Agree... manual winding doesn't means it's lower end. If not mistaken, the new Richard Mille RM035 is also manual wind and retails for more than USD$80,000.

guys, don't bash the guy for saying something maybe he didn't mean to. give him a chance to learn the terminology.

like i said, "HISTORIC" is the word you are looking for.

collectors and enthusiasts don't like the word LOW-end, doesn't sound right.
especially when we collects all sorts of watches.

You're a true class, Derek.

You're right. We're trying to build a community here.

Here's my contribution.

What determine a watch as high end, low end or mid end. It usually gauge by the quality of the material use, the level craftmanship and sophistication of the design(both aesthetic and technical)

IMHO price is a not a good indicator whether the watch is high end or low end.

Look at Nomos, the only thing that's low end is the price. The rest is just as high end as the other brand.

Regards
Tyler
