Watch for wedding
« on: March 21, 2011, 10:36:14 AM »
Hie to all members,

I am getting married at he end of the year  :). Currently trying to find a good watch as hantaran for my wedding.
I am a newbie and still reading this forumn to learn more. Unfortunately all the good ones i read about are way more than my budget.
My budget is only under 3k   . Trying to get a good and reliable watch with automatic and chrono functions and good packaging.

Hope members and sifus can help out with my predicament.
Maybe can also recommend some AD also ?  :)

So 3k for one watch for you?
It that case, I'd say you have quite a number of choices.
What brands do you have in mind?

You are looking for an automatic chronograph watch from a good brand (assuming Swiss) for under 3k RM.
Your best bet would be a Tissot with the new caliber C01.211.

A list of ADs can be found here: http://www.tissot.ch/?mod=stores&action=search&search=&regions=4&countries=115&countryregions=&cities=Kuala+Lumpur&option=stores

You will have less options if requirements are auto AND chrono AND up to 3k. Assuming also you mean buying new too. I really dont know of any at the price point but like other have said, Tissot is a start. All the best!

I'd say stay away from Cerruti because they are a fashion brand. But yes, Tissot is a good start. Mind giving us better specifications? Like your preferred case size, strap or bracelet etc. Personally I liked the PRC200 on leather strap very much. Clean design and sporty and has 200m water resistance

3k budget, you can consider Longines, Ball or Tag Heuer, these are some of the good start, shop around, you normally can get some good discount from the shop retail price, no need to wait for Mega sale. They always have sale...

Tissot is one option. Another good option would be Oris or Hamilton.  Don't be fooled by the sticker prices. If the outlet doesn't give you a good discount (I'm tempted to write the figure, but the mods won't be too happy), walk away because there is always another one wiling to do business. If you're rajin, visit as many shops as possible, because sometimes these shops would have Best Buys or Value Buys whereby prices had already been slashed for almost half for models that are already outgoing.

Good luck for the hunt and more importantly, for your marriage.

Tissot is a good place to start. I particularly like the Seastar/Visodate's timeless styling. Also have you considered a Sinn or a Grand Seiko? Not Swiss but well made watches nonetheless. Maybe Longines?
