FS: Tudor Black Bay P01
« on: December 01, 2020, 06:40:17 PM »
Hi MWF,

Another short review-cum-sale post:

Up for sale is my own Tudor P01, the infamous unorthodox watch from Tudor. The origin of this watch dates back to the 1960s where, the U.S navy commissioned Tudor to create a robust watch with a timing bezel for their secret mission (Hence the 12-hour markers instead of 60-min markers). The P01 was one of the prototypes that was not released to the public. In 2018, Tudor released the reissue P01 under its Black Bay line, making it the most unorthodox black bay ever made in the modern Tudor line-up.

What makes this watch special is the unique locking mechanism on the 12 o’clock position, where the user will press down on the lever to release a lock and free up the bezel. Here, you’ll have a bidirectional 12-hour rotating bezel which clicks in dead accuracy, without any play in each position. On top of that, once you push down the lever and lock the bezel, it will be dead set and nothing ever moves.

The watch might look huge for a 42mm watch. But do not let the pictures fool you. This is something that you must experience on your own to get the actual vibe of it. This is something that looks significantly better when viewed in person than on pictures. The vintage-looking dial complements the beautifully brushed bezel perfectly and the fine brushing on the case paired with a hybrid leather outer, rubber inner 20mm strap oozes outclass and ruggedness.

I’ve saved the best for the last. The dial. Extraordinary. Put that iconic snowflake hands aside, the hour markers are essentially droplets of SUPERLUMINOVA. Under normal lighting conditions, you will find the lume markers to be like a drop of liquid on the dial, wet-looking, or I should say, organic looking. The glossy shine on each lume markers makes the dial looks extraordinarily lively.

I’ve gotten this watch from a Local AD in September 2020. This watch is not a limited edition but due to its limited production nature, I’ve put my name on the waitlist since March 2020. Went straight to get the watch without thinking when I’ve gotten the call from AD. I need to liquidate this for cryptocurrency investment. The watch comes with a complete set that includes inner outer boxes, user manual, guarantee booklet, and warranty card.
