SST is not like GST where it is multi layered. SST will be imposed 10% import tax for those newly incoming watch, and authorized dealer will definitely increase the price to maintain their profit margin. Not sure how will the SST affect the grey seller pricing.

Grey dealers should be affected the same way unless the watches are brought in without customs declaration. If however there is an increase in prices across the board including for pre SST stock, these dealers are liable to be prosecuted under anti-profiteering laws.



@flatcap200, well said. But I would guess both AD n grey seller will be taking the chances with keeping their stock at the moment.

Even if they are not prosecuted, investigations will cause plenty of info to surface. Some of them might crack under pressure (unlike Tag Heuer of course  :thumbsup:) and re-adjust prices.

Today went to wing wah and had a chat with the sales lady. I was told sst will only affect those new incoming stock. Old stock price will remain same.

by right SST only imposed on imported goods (after 1/9/18) or local manufactured, which means there will be no impact on pre-owned or ex-stock.
