Guys.. anybody got any confirmed news that Tag is increasing their prices?

i think watch prices increase every year... my last check on Longines Legend Diver no date was RM5.9k, now is RM6.9k.
isn't it ironic? despite euro is doing nothing better this year.

if every swiss brand continue to increase their prices every year, few years down the road those brands will be very hard to reach by many people.. can't believe this!

Euro may not have had a good year but the Swiss Franc has been on a roll, and hence the rising price of Swiss watches.

Grapevine has it that the price hike will take place mid Jan 2011.

Just now went to Subang Parade.. they told me that there is no such news on Tag increasing the price. Hmm... now not sure which is true...

if its 15% as nazri said, IMHO its too much given the current economic reality. 2 ADs told me that Ball was thinking of increasing prices mid-year but held it off after getting feedback . Lets hope common sense prevails.

8% or 15% as long as we see a watch that we like, the AD gives us xx% discount, we'd still pull the trigger. Doncha think?

Sure we still get a discount but the base/list price is higher already. But I suppose u r right,as consumers and this being a competitive market,we ultimately decide whether 2 buy or not.

If the trend of watch price increasing almost every year... in few years to come, it will be hard for Malaysians to buy high end brand watches..

I don't know whether any local ADs or their owners/staff are in MWF but I m sure they r at least aware that it exists. As consumers at least we shld b giving our feedback on these sort of issues. At the end of the day, the old adage is the customer comes 1st,no matter what industry u r in.

I guess sometimes it is out of the AD "power" on the price increase.. Tag Heuer is the one who decide if they want to increase the price. The AD just follows..

I went to Pavilion KL Tag Heuer on Sunday...
The stuff told me min will increase 8%

But 10%~18% discount are still remain.

Is it the local agent/franchise holder or Tag Switzerland that decide on these sort of price increase? Anybody can clarify?

The price increase has deferred to 15 February 2011, according to an AD.

I guess it would be Tag switzerland. This is because MSRP are normally set by them. Up to AD want to profit less or more by giving discounts since they got their stock at a dealer's price. Retail prices are all calculated and fixed so that AD's make a certain and fixed amount of profit from sales. There cant be certain ADs selling Tags at different prices. ALL of them should have the same retail price but discounts may vary from outlet to outlet. Prices may change subject to demand however in certain brands with high demand but low production such as Panerai etc.
