Unofficially sold or stolen watches.
« on: September 08, 2017, 06:56:26 AM »
Hi guys, remember years ago when credit card scammers were using cloned cards to purchase watches from ADs then selling them cheaper.

Is it true that if the manufacturer gets knowledge of which watches those were, if the owner is unaware of the watch in their possession has been 'listed', when it gets sent to the official service center for a job, the manufacturer will hold that watch and not return it back?

I remember reading something like this years ago.

Is this a myth?

It's not applicable for "common law" legal platform countries.

The onus is on the credit card companies and not the AD. The transact was valid. The credit card companies would need to claim from the insurers.

The manufacturer cannot hold the watch as long as the watch owner is bona fide purchaser.
