Positioning watches during non-wrist time - Rolex reference

Guys,

Stumbled upon this picture upon researching on watch accuracy. Anyone tried if it really works ?
Is it universal or just applicable to Rolex ?

i think this is applicable to old rolex movement and not modern rolex, but no harm to try.

It's applicable to all watches.
i think this is applicable to old rolex movement and not modern rolex, but no harm to try.

Some other brand's manual indicates similar balancing instruction.
