It maybe hard for private sellers. I think the queries are more for the buyers wanting to get the best deal. There are times where I would like to sell my watch for a particular price but upon doing some research and fact-finding, the same watch can be had for lower at a grey market dealer and it comes with the said dealer's warranty. It used to be that if one is rigid with their pricing, it will take a while but eventually the watch will be sold. These days, I think one has to wait much much longer unless one's price is flexible.

The slow market does not seem to impact my regular pre-owned dealers though. Every time I am there, there are always buyers snapping up a few pieces at any one time. If anything, my dealer is finding it hard to find stock due to the weak currency.

I am not too sure about that. I see watches in the right brand and model with good pricing snap up almost immediately when they are advertised.
Sometime you got to ask yourself, the watch you selling vs new what is the gap ? If too small people would just buy new.
Secondly if you got the pricing right then perhaps is the model.

hm...probably the watch you selling might not in demand, so it will take quiet a while to sell
also if you price ur watch competitively, it might be snap up quicker

Generally watches with precious metal/bling bling will be more difficult to sell eg s/s submariner vs gold submariner

For ptivate seller, possibly the asking price and the after sales service are the main concern.

Sad to admit that , only Rolexs sell the quickest based on my experience (in Malaysia) . I have sold other watches but the price has to be discounted very much lower than those selling the same watch by used retailer. Rolexs especially sport models are very liquid

Truth be told. The world market is slow for everything. Real estate, luxury goods, which includes watches and everything else in between. Everyone is affected and there is a slowdown everywhere. It is a buyers market and cash is king. But then again, this statement has always been true. Cash is always king...

supply and demand creates the market.... oversupply slows things down as the choices are abundant.
If there is hype around a particular model and supply is low then its a quick seller.... many Rolex fall into this category whereas Bell& Ross, Ball, Tag Heuer doesnt really, plenty of stock at discount prices makes them slow movers as everyone knows waiting can usually get a better deal.

And the price of the Ringgit also comes into play, luxury items usually take a hit when the dollar is low.

That means your asking price is not realistic of market demand/ pricing. Rolex Daytona Ceramic selling at RRP ...... long queue for it, selling it at RM70k will take a while even for hot models. Good times bad times buyer wants to buy cheap, seller wants premium or highest price ....

I too am trying to sell 2 watches, but no luck so far. Not sure whether it's because the market is slow as it's my 1st time selling non-Omega/Tag.

Yep. The market isn't as liquid as hoped. But as long as you have holding power. No worries. The only thing that sucks is that you can't get the next watch fast enough cause you haven't sold your current watch. Oh well.

I have been trying to sell a tag for a while , sadly most of the offers have been from scammers. What i have realized is

- Rolex are the easiest to sell
- People are looking for a bargain price or 'Best Best Price'

just put something up on mudah and within 5 minutes of your ad being approved you should get a few hits from +234 (nigeria) numbers. some are even using malaysian numbers.

the more expensive your item, the more hits you will get. one even asked a friend of mine to ship his car to nigeria.

All they need is 1/1000 chance to get the water fish. Those who never read or experience before seller will be very tempted by their offer price. Then prepare to receive " emails " from bank demand tracking number before the money released and if you wont ship they threathen with FBI lol.
Their modus operandi is about the same for the past decade and they seems continue using it, which mean there are still peoples who fall for it.
