i prefer white gold to yellow gold. steel is harder than gold but i am not too sure about the scratch resistance.

Right now its rose gold...cos:
- personal preference over yellow gold which IMHO is more common
- Don't hv one in rose gold yet.

I like a rose gold case on a black dial and black leather strap.

incidentally this gets me wondering..would white gold turn yellow as the years goes by due to the nickel plating "oxidixing" ?

i mean i have to replate my white gold wedding band every year because of this....

also i have read that RSC refuses to buff and polish white gold watches because of this.

Even the pure 999 gold bullion coin color could turn reddish....

That's normal if the 14k or 18k gold color changes...

Depending on watches. But I like the feel of platinum , its weighty. =) . As being said, gold / rose gold is very very hard to match with normal outing clothes. And its very eye catchy , i sometimes feel unsafe when wearing gold watches in Malaysia.

Yellow gold was the standard back then. Today, the trend is rose/pink gold or white gold.

Though, if it's an all gold watch where the bracelet is gold as well, yellow gold does have it's charm when you wear white colored clothes

Speaking entirely on my own perception, I have all 4 types of metals. I think as a collector , you will eventually want all of them . Different gold for different occassion . Between white gold and platinum , i prefer the platinum , it wears more weight and it's harder than white gold. No preference for gold since different mood I wear different gold .
