Preowned Nomos Zürich Weltzeit for sale
« on: July 14, 2016, 10:15:31 PM »
Up for sale is my Nomos Zürich Weltzeit (German for Worldtimer) which is less than a year old and has only been worn less than 10 times. Comes complete with box and papers and the watch can only be bought online as the closest AD in this region is in Singapore amd Thailand.

According to ABlogtoWatch, Nomos Glashütte is one of those brands that any watch lover comes to know in a somewhat more intermediate stage of watch appreciation. Certain ideas of what makes a fine watch are realized at this stage, and Nomos Glashütte is fully formed to cater to the people who come up the ladder.

The Zürich Weltzeit is the most complicated piece NOMOS has released. As its name implies (German for GMT) the Weltzeit is an extremely elegant watch capable of tracking two time zones, both aesthetically and functionally. Nomos has utilized the easiest to use GMT complication out there with a single pusher.

The design motif of Nomos and Bauhaus in general is basically absolute function with no unnecessary flourishes. The stark, severe Bauhaus inspired design, emphasizing function and minimalism is self-evident in this watch where not an inch of excess is to be found anywhere.

The dialwork on the watch is as simple as it is astonishing. Nomos took the idea of a GMT watch’s dial and removed absolutely everything that wasn’t necessary. The house looking sign at 3:00 indicates the hometime and the red marker is the hometime wheel, often confused as a date complication. This wheel is on a 24 hour scale and operates independently of the hour hand. It displays what time it is at your home location wherever you are and lets you know whether it's AM or PM there. The independence of the home time disk means you can change time zones as you fly from one location to another without affecting your ability to see what time it is at your home, a very useful function for world travelers and businessmen who do a lot of work with offices in other countries.

All watches from NOMOS, this one in particular, are for someone not looking for accolades, but rather subtle excellence in both form and function, and a watch that will please you and you alone each time you glance down at it. To quote Hodinkee, Nomos Zürich Weltzeit is for a man who appreciates that fact that this watch features an in-house manufacture movement with hand-finishing, but doesn't need everyone around him to know how much he paid for it.
