Is it possible to punch "hole in between" for my moonwatch ?

Dear MWF..

I believe that some of you may face this annoying issues, that put you in the state: like this also wrong - like that also wrong.
This is what I am dealing right now.

I recently purchase a omega FOIS (First Omega In Space) and decided to dress it up with a custom non-Omega black matt alligator strap on Omega genuine deployment buckle.



So the main issues has to blame on the strap hole.



As usually, I do wear it on the second hole, but I believe that from time to time it stretched out and now it too loose for me to wear and because now it's already loose. It does occasionally slide down and this annoys me.



Then if I choose to put it on the first hole, it just don't wear right. It's too tight and uncomfortable. Thus, with the humid weather in Malaysia, this just stick too much on the skin.



So now, this anal me with "like this also wrong - like that also wrong"
First Hole wears too tight - Second hole wears too loose.



I believe if I could punch a hole in between it would be a perfect fit.
However, will this damage the strap? I already checked with some watch shop as they DARE NOT to punch the hole for me because the gap between the hole is simply too close. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone experience something like this?
If I insisted to punch hole in between, will the strap get damage? Thanks.

I did this a long time ago.  There's a chance over time the hole will break because the leather is too narrow between the holes, which is what happened to me.

Since you can always buy another strap it might not matter to you, but you do wonder when the hole breaks whether the watch will come loose/off and get damaged or lost.

Another (maybe better) option is to bring the strap to a leathersmith.  Maybe they can give you their opinion if they can shorten the strap for you slightly on the end that you put into the springbar.  I assume they can cut it from the springbar end then stitch it up again.  Done properly by a leathersmith they can give you their opinion how strong it would be.

Edit - this second option might not work since the width of the strap at the springbar might become too narrow.  Oops

the distance between first and 2nd hole is just way too close, it will definitely damage the strap in long run
my suggestion will be, get a custom strap according to your wrist size

sometime i would have no choice but to get use to it, it seems not possible to make another hole in the middle, and its an expensive strap not to be miss

either you let go this strap and get a new one or get use to it, i had came across this and i think everyone do so

Don't do it.

If the new hole that punched in between, break and join othee hole, your watch may slip from your hand and drop because the sudden enlarge joined holes.

ur best option is probably to go back to a regular buckle, then it should wear on the 1st hole comfortably.
if u dont have a omega buckle, u can always buy one from swatchgroup, costs around rm50.

Seems like majority here advised not to "gatal" and punch the hole as it might damage the strap. I think have get used to this circumstances as I don't wanna spend too much on watch strap. Once it bites you, the strap collecting sequences will not easily end and this does happen when I still own my pam, lol. Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts.

I would advise u to get a set of new straps
Do not punch in between existing holes

Personally I think the strap loosened for a reason. It's probably because at certain times of the day, your wrist expands and thus the strap adapted accordingly. If you still feel it's too loose, best bet is to wear it on the first hole and until it expands slightly to get a better fit. That's the good thing about leather straps.. over time, it adapts to your wrist. Just like how leather shoes adapt to your feet. I wouldn't punch another hole. It will ruin the strap.

Here's another option. When it's hot and humid out, wear your Speedy on a NATO strap instead, and save the leather strap for dresser occasions.

Since you have your current strap as the reference use it and buy another strap where the holes line up in between.
