Just ordered the black dial ceramic SS Daytona from an AD in Australia.

Price is 15,700 AUD, after tax is 14,272 AUD. Works out to be around 44k ringgit. Am first in line and can't wait! Happy with price too. Although I expect the price to fall in the secondary market by approx. 10-15% in the long term.

Mind you I had to deal with a lot of bad dealers who asking me questions like:

"how much premium you want to pay"
"oh long wait list"
"retail premium this one"
"we don't know when can get stock"

All sorts of excuses. One guy even told sub C got 1 year wait list. Such bs. can you believe it. Anyway managed to find a good AD which is doing the right thing.

Congrats man! Good deal you got btw!

Congrat. bro. Did your AD indicate any delivery date? Wonder whether can place order with Malaysia AD.

No indication of delivery date. But I think October.

You can try Malaysian AD, I think the price is around 43-44k ringgit. But most of them very action. hard to deal with.

You are right, most of them are action I felt. Most probably a premium will be charged eventhough they are accepting pre-order.

Old version good also, I suspect that the stainless steel version before the ceramic one should start to go down in price because a lot of people I know are upgrading to the ceramic. I will still keep my stainless steel version though. Maybe the price will stabilise in the long term but for now the price should be going down.

Imo there should not be a waiting list for this.

I am confused also but old Daytona can be had at grey dealers for cheaper than retail. Brand new.

Also second hand prices is lower than retail.

IMHO, these AD are always "creating" the fake demand and waiting list in order to justify the premium charged on the sought after models. They will tell the walk-in customer that the model is on waiting list, but if you show the keen interest, they may sell you with a premium charged. I have experienced once. Anyway, just my 2cent....no offend.

yea agree the wait list is fake. We all know the person who well known with the AD will get the hot pieces first.

but it is against rolex policy for AD to charge above retail.

I was speaking to the AD I ordered my DaytonaC from, they advised that if you have proof from a receipt issued by them they can help lodge a report with rolex. However if AD is big AD like hourglass which is known to always charge "retail premium" over hot models like the Daytona. I don't think rolex will do anything about it.

If small AD rolex may step in and take away their licence.

Thank you, bro, for your advise and comment. My previous experience was with Swxxx Gxxxxxx. Don't think it is useful to lodge a report with Rolex as it is a big AD, therefore, best thing to do was just walked out of the boutique and bought at other boutiques or oversea. I found a boutique in Singapore Airport is charging reasonable price on Rolex models they sell and they have some of the sought after models, few months ago.

This is very unreasonable price for a steel Daytona. Wonder how could they quoted so much or they thought the potential buyers do not know the market price? Unless it is a vantage watch, maybe...

this is about supply and demand... rolex strictly limits the number of watches (esp. popular models) to the ADs to create the impression that their watches are always "sold out". This creates the perception that rolex is always in demand thus driving up prices even above MSRP.

My visits to rolex ADs here in PJ/KL is similar, vv bad attitude, basically "... up to you, take it or leave it... i don't care..."

RRP CHF11,800 according to internet source, based on current exchange rate, should be approximately RM49,000. Anyway, this is not official Malaysia RRP.

Rm80k sounds a bit of a stretch and illogical for the new steel Daytona.... Dont think any AD is crazy enough to quote 1.6times of market price... It's counter-intuitive.... For 30k extra u could spend for a family vacation in Switzerland and other EU countries and buy the watch while you are in Switzerland.....
