Rolex 2016
« on: March 17, 2016, 09:25:59 AM »
I am very impressed by Rolex this year. My thoughts are, based on what Rolex has, nothing can compete against it within the price range (we talking list price range) Extremely impressed.

Let's look at the new explorer:

Proportions of hands are fixed. 3,6,9 lume. New chromlight. This piece is the hottest piece in its price range. I cannot find any piece that compete against it.

Now we all know after that there is the sub range, SS sub and sub date and hulk. This speaks for itself, nothing can compete against sub at its price rage. We taking list price.

And now the thing that blew me away. Rolex released the ultimate piece ever. The new Rolex Daytona in ss ceramic. This guys is game over for all the competitors within that price bracket. Nothing that beat it in that price level.

Just unbelievable. I'm blown away.

Totally blown away.

Well done Rolex for answering to the fans.

I know I'm getting a black dial ceramic Daytona.

Won't be surprised if those greedy retailers play their - no stock wait list games and trying to sell those Daytona above retail as usual.

I'm sure they will... just have to wait them out as usual or buy from scrupulous sellers only

Agreed. I like the green seconds hand either, not forgetting the yellow crown. It appears very "Rolex".

New Explorer looks amazing, love the slightly fatter hour hand and longer minutes hand.   Has it always used the Superlative +2/-2 Chronometer rating?

The new Daytona looks to be a favourite too.  I can't believe Rolex has listened to the feedback of fans on both pieces, they've done a great job.

Regarding the new Daytona ceramic.

Spoke to some dealers and they say I can get the first one that arrive and they taking deposits now however they don't know what the retail price is. Too early to tell if they r lying or the supply will be enough.

This is also dangerous because the retail price could be anything. At the moment I'm basing the price on the official 11,800 CHF. So should be around 50k ringgit.

My guess is unlike before when the Daytona had the zenith movement they had to rely on zenith for movement now they product their own I don't think they will have issues with production. Also the decline in the watch industry would basically force them to supply the market or miss out.

Just ordered the black dial ceramic SS Daytona from an AD in Australia.

Price is 15,700 AUD, after tax is 14,272 AUD. Works out to be around 44k ringgit. Am first in line and can't wait! Happy with price too. Although I expect the price to fall in the secondary market by approx. 10-15% in the long term.

Mind you I had to deal with a lot of bad dealers who asking me questions like:

"how much premium you want to pay"
"oh long wait list"
"retail premium this one"
"we don't know when can get stock"

All sorts of excuses. One guy even told sub C got 1 year wait list. Such bs. can you believe it. Anyway managed to find a good AD which is doing the right thing.

Congrat. bro. Did your AD indicate any delivery date? Wonder whether can place order with Malaysia AD.

No indication of delivery date. But I think October.

You can try Malaysian AD, I think the price is around 43-44k ringgit. But most of them very action. hard to deal with.
