RE: Chinese made Watch Winder
« on: January 26, 2016, 04:02:53 PM »
Hi there,

I hope that this is the right section to ask about watch winders.

Has anyone had any experience  with chinese made watch winders?

Thinking of purchasing this one (looks like the only type available on lelong).

http://www.lelong.com.my/auto-winder-watch-box-2-winders-4-6-shopperplanet-I1762756-2007-01-Sale-I.htm

Any feedback will be much appreciated. Buying to wind my Sub and Exp. They are seeing a lot less wrist time eversince my JLC Reverso purchase.

Thanks,
Colin

I have the 4+6. Got it about 6-7 months ago and it's still working fine.

Overall I think it's ok if you don't want to spend too much on winders. There are a few rotation settings. Finish is quite good, mine is  piano black. A little noisy though..

The vortex one the lid is more curvy compared to the lelong one..they give one year warranty and got shop ..actually if you go Aliexpress many over there..just risk of tax and warranty..

The only thing I'm worried when using chinese winder is magnetism. I'm worried the motor and mechanism could magnetized my watch.

I use small compass, so far no magnetism, but the rotation setting on chinese winder sometime I think could put too much stress on the mainspring. It turns non stop the whole day.

Update. I pulled the trigger on the 2 + 3 version. First looks seems well made.

Testing it right now with my Seiko Monaco.  Spins about 10 turns per minute, which looks to me to be slightly on the fast side.

At the moment its completely silent. For RM245, if it continues working for a year, I will be pretty happy.

I have bought mine (4+ 6) from the CIMB Fiesta Exch. Unfortunately, one of the rotate motor spoiled right after the 3 months warranty period given by the seller. Too bad.

Yup. Mine came with only 1 month warranty!  :mooning:

Thing is I can't bring myself to purchase a Wolf or Orbita, which cause 4 figures for an equivalent winder. Will try my luck with this one first.

I will consider Wolf or Orbita only if I manage to get my dream watch: PP.  ;D ;D

I've calculated the number of turns per day for this winder, and its a whopping 3600 TPD over 24 hours!

A rolex only needs about 650 TBD according to the Orbita site.

This makes me think that I should have ponied up for a proper winder.....

I will be turning this winder on when I get back from work and off before i sleep......

I thought it has several modes where it can stop and then continue?

Would it be bad for the watch if we let it just keep turning for months without wearing it?
