Omega Moonwatch or Tudor Black Bay Black?
« on: October 19, 2015, 07:05:58 PM »
Hi all,

Just wondering which you would all choose?

I've been wanting an Omega Speedmaster moonwatch for a long time (buy pre-owned though), but I saw the new Tudor Black Bay Black last week and my heart was stolen ....

How? Why am I so unfaithful? Haha.

So I'm wondering which watch would you choose - just for a fun discussion.

I'd go with the Tudor only because I have big fingers and had difficulty winding the moonwatch. Had the burgundy bezel black bay once but was looking for something less radical so it was sold but with the new black bay black, I can see myself owning one again.

Hard to choose as 2 are different watch.

Moonwatch is chrono, hesalite crystal, manual wind. WR 30m

Black Bay being a diver, WR 200m, sapphire crystal, auto.

Choose what you prefer.

I believe they can coexist in one's collection.  ;D

If I could only choose one, it will probably be the black Black Bay (they finally matches the name with its colour,  :D)
The Black Bay is more versatile, all rounder watch - auto winding, sapphire crystal, and higher water resistance.
I would buy the new Black Bay in a heartbeat if it was a little thinner and a little cheaper.

A pre-owned moonwatch is easily the best value buy out there.

So now I sense that I need to buy the moonwatch first, then buy the Black Bay after. :)

Yeah.. between the 2, i'd say a moonwatch is definitely more of a must have in a collection..

I know omega is a rolex wannabe, but to say omega is same level as tudor would be unfair..

That said if u like the watch, why do u care what people thinks.. just do it.. hehe

Have not handled the BB, but I would still go for the Speedy due to the heritage and additional chrono complication.

Well, one of Omega's was selected by NASA to be worn to the moon, but not Rolex. Need I say more?  ;)

Well, I have a GMT Master 2, so I've scratched that Rolex itch for now. :P

Their watches are really nice, but I thought popular perception is that Tudor's the poor man's Rolex?

"the only thing worse than a fake rolex, is a real one" - Jeremy Clarkson

Why attribute a quote on Rolex by someone whose specialty was to write and speak about cars, and who had been described with an apparent violent and questionable sexual behaviour according to Wikipedia, adding that he "was suspended by the BBC from Top Gear following a "fracas" with one of the show's producers" early this year..

In the same page in Wikipedia, it was also stated "In April 2007, he was criticised in the Malaysian parliament for having described one of their cars, the Perodua Kelisa, as the worst in the world, "its name was like a disease and suggested it was built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes".

Haha.. so now we know!

no need to be so hypocritical.
a lot of malaysians are also critical of malaysian cars.
its only when malaysians go overseas, that they start being defensive even over the crappiest of crap malaysian products.

All that talk about Rolexes .... for the price of the Tudor BB, this also comes into the same ballpark (preowned):

Good question!

If me I'd go Omega because my collection I already have a subC for that robustness and versatility.

If I didn't have a robust piece I would get the black bay black.
