Seeking Ideas
« on: October 15, 2015, 02:27:00 PM »
Hi everyone.
Im new to the forum. Thanks to admin for the approval.

I am in a market for a new watch to be added to my collection of wide range of watches:-
-AP ROO Black Theme
-Rolex Daytona SS Blackface
-JLC DuoDate
-Cartier Tank Solo Gold
-Bvalgari Diagono Aluminium
-SevenFriday P3-1
-Tag Heuer 2000 series
-Apple Watch
-Swatch Systems 51
-Casio

Back to my dilemma, I have a budget of between RM60k to RM125k for a brand new watch.
Im beginning to like rose gold watch, and i recently missed an opportunity to beg the Rolex YM2 in everose gold before the price adjustment and now it is on waiting list. After looking at it again, i decided not to go with the YM2.
I recently booked a PP Aquanaut in steel but it is not here yet and i havent paid anything to the AD yet.

I seek the opinions and suggestions from the SIFUs here to share what else that I should consider for my budget.

Thanks! I look forward to your suggestions.

have a nice day.

With your budget, just pick up these first; won't even blink an eye:
-SevenFriday P3-1
-Tag Heuer 2000 series
-Apple Watch
-Swatch Systems 51
-Casio

And then you can now decide on what you want to get with the remainder of your ~100k budget.

That is a really healthy budget. I like your collection. Covers a lot of different situation. Patek is a good choice. If you like the aquanaut a lot, then I don't see why not. I myself went with the Nautilus. Another brand you can consider is A.Lange & Sohne if you desire something different. Am itching for the Lange 1 myself but that is still a way to go for me.

There are quite a few watches that I like at the upper end of your budget, namely Lange Up/Down in white gold, FP Journe Chronometre Souverain and Patek 5960. I have attached here a few pictures taken from Internet.

Lastly, if you can double up your budget, I recommend Patek 5170 in black dial

I think what OP meant was he already owned these watches and looking to add another - thought of buying YM2 and then went on to make a booking of an Aquanaut....

To OP, i would go with the Nautilus or Lange 1 without any doubt....i dont personally like the Aquanaut....

I'd get nautilus 5711 blue dial with that budget.

Now there are rumors that the 5711 blue is going to get discontinued with the release of the 5711p version on retail and the 40th anniversary for the nautilus is coming next year. It cannot be confirmed at this stage but in the past when Patek would release a platinum version before discontinuing the product. A new model could replace the 5711 but who knows.

@nikfs1881 you are right; I completely misread that! Apologies.

And yes, I think a PP 5711 would be a good addition. Unless you absolutely need a dress watch (I think not a necessity in KL), I would personally stick with a sports watch. Else, if you absolutely need gold, perhaps AP 15400SR or 15202OR?
