Dear all,

I had a watch not more than 2 months. I would like to sell it but I don't know what's the reasonable price. May I know how's the depreciation rate for Longines watches? Is it not suitable for sell within short period?

Thank you for advise.

For a 2 months old regular production watch, I would say probably 10% to 15% cheaper from your purchased price.

Always put yourself in the buyer's shoes, why would he buy used if he can get a brand new watch from AD by paying a little bit extra.

Hard to say, as Longines and particularly this model is not sought after.

I'm newbies in automatic watch. I'm attract by this complication watch. But I'm lusting for Omega aqua terra James bond edition now. Change my taste not more than 2 months.... from complication to simplicity.

I'm thinking want to let my longines go or not... don't know the resale value. I have to keep if it is too low.

You may try your luck here (after accumulating 25 quality posts first, though) or muxah or ebxy

If you sell the Longines now you're going to take a hit, and my gut feel is more than 15% of your purchase price. Plus it seems like your taste changes pretty quick. If you have enough funds for another watch, why not hold on to the Longines for a bit more, you might grow to like it.

Your advice is not bad also. Maybe I will keep it as a collection.

For longines you gonna take a big hit. I'd be surprised if you don't. Usually Id suspect that second hand value of longines is around 40%-50% or more of the retail price.

The retail price is RM13250, means I still can sell it at price RM7000. Good deal also.

The retail price will increase soon due to Ringgit Malaysia depreciate.

I am more conservative. You are losing easily 30% from your purchase price the moment you step out the shop with the watch you bought. Even Rolex also the same. Unless what you bought is special edt/limited edt from those big brand watches.

30pct of purchase price for rolex after you step out of the shop? No way....more like 15pct of purchase price for rolex or a max of 20pct if desperate sale....cant imagine those who bought subc date for rm27k (price pre-gst) would sell for rm18900(30pct) similar to the price of 10 yrs old alloy bezel sub (16610)

But i do agree with 30pct off purchase price for most brands, eg longines, tag etc (generally speaking)
