Seiko 5 Sports Misalignment of Indices
« on: July 03, 2015, 04:29:24 PM »
I visited local shop and wanted to buy the pictured New Blue Seiko 5 Sports 100m Automatic Driver Watch. But I finally couldn't accept it due to the misalignment of the lume in the indices... one slanted and one is not in center

However the Golded Plated case one is good at alignment.

And this is not the first time I saw this misalignment. My Seiko Presage SARY055 also has the same problem, happen in the 12 o'clock indice slanted to the left. Surprisingly, all white dial SARY055 in all the shops I have visited suffer from the same issue, which means all SARY055 12 O'clock indice is slanted to the left in the same way!

I have to say it is kind of disappointed to see these things happening to the well established company.
What do you think?

BTW, I quite like this piece coz it has latest 4R36 movement with hacking seconds hand mechanism. The case is quite well designed...

Managed to find some info from here, they call it mini monster:

It seem the lumes are aligned with the indices, but not sure:

My recent SBDC027 too the marker is off aligned. I got it from an AD from Japan. The AD stated outright that there might be misalignment of the watches that you are going to purchase and due to the fault of the manufacturer, Seiko in their website as a disclaimer.

I have another misalignment in the Orient watch.

Perhaps its time to look at Swiss

Agree. Kind of unique. But it will be shown a little 'cheap' when people find it misaligned, won't it?

Damn it. I found tons of images and complaint to Seiko's misalignment issue, by simply google "Seiko Misaligned"

To me it is inferior quality of product manufacturing.

Could it be happened in Swiss watch, all mine is ok but managed to google some misalignment in Swiss made watch:

Couldn't believe from your pictures the luxury brand of Swiss too misalign.

But for a Seiko 5 to be misaligned I felt not so bad its made in mass production. Unless its a Grand Seiko then its bad.

Misalignment is rather inevitable in machine made watches, even the most precise optical comparator has a minimal deviation tolerance.

Try not looking at your watches so closely.  Unless you're rocking a Grand Seiko they will almost all have some minor issue or two.
