Suggesstion for watch around 10K
« on: June 16, 2015, 01:03:09 PM »
Hi guys. I know this topic a bit 'cliche'  , had already talk on this forum again and again,  and the answer for this topic is also might be subjective, but I need a help, a suggestion for my next watches purchase :) from MWF members.

My budget is around 10K.Targeting the middle range brand ,  being browsing the several website recently make me either to choose the brand new or opt to the pre-owned one. Got my eyes on brand new Breitling Superocean II 44mm or preowned Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph 44mm. Those is quite nice watch but I'm sure there is a plenty better choice out there that I haven't discover. I'm looking for:-     1. sporty watches

 2. Not a chronograph 3. Diameter at least 43 - 44 mm 4. Automatic

If you are into breitling's design, just go for it! I have one avenger seawolf blacksteel and i love the breit! Extremely well built and sporty.....That's my favorite weekend watch.....
Coincidentally, i have one grand carrera gmt too.... Which i like as well.... But if i havent bought the grand carrera yet and i have to make a choice between the GC and the iwc pilot, i would have gone for iwc  pilot instead.... Tag is nice and good quality too but value retention is not one of its forte!

Hi nikfs1881
That Baume et Mercier in my list before. Lost interest because of very snobby salesperson. Not so many watch shop have that brand.  May you pm me the budget for that capeland. I like the one with blue dial :)

I like the new Superocean II. The thinner bezel but the dial a bit busy. Typical Breitling trademark I think. The automatic Colt is nice but not really like the bezel design.

a niche brand for you to consider Armand Nicolet S05 Date 44mm

B&R BR03 which 1mm smaller than what you wanted...

U-Boat Classico which is 1mm bigger than what you wanted...

hi TJWN
Nice armandnicolet, heard that brand before but never had a chance to view it in person. That really suit my budget? :)

I owned the Black Bay and Pelagos, and I would give a +1 to the Pelagos.

1. sporty watches - Checked
2. Not a chronograph - Checked
3. Diameter at least 43 - 44 mm - Checked (42mm without crown)
4. Automatic - Checked
5. Date - Checked
6. Prefer rubber strap - Checked (includes both bracelet and rubber strap)
7. Crazy bright lasting lume - Checked

And you could get a pre-owned at your budget too. Good luck with your shopping!

Got my eyes on brand new Breitling Superocean II 44mm or preowned Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph 44mm.

What about Avenger II Seawolf? Very solid and well built, and dial not too busy, with military font style arabic numerals, some more comes with certified chronometer compared to Carrera. I nearly pull trigger on this after trying it on my wrist during watch shopping before GST, at the end "tak jadi" coz price is way above my budget  :'(

Carrera Chronograph is also good but I feel that it's a bit "sien" already, may be it has been around for quite some times (no offense to Tag lovers).

Avenger II Seawolf are also in my list , the price also a couple hundred more than the Superocean but the case is very thick 18.4 mm. Maybe to withstand the water resistant is 3000 m :). I have to try all those model in person before decide which one should I choose.

Ball is okay but personally i wouldnt recommend SEvenFriday for the OP......sevenfriday is below rm5k instead of rm10k and not meeting the price point provided by OP. But again, personal taste differs across individuals, that's just my 2 cents

IMO Ball Fireman (storm chaser) will fit most the character that I'm looking for but it is hard to find those Storm Chaser. Most shop have a Storm Chaser Pro which is 42 mm. Seven friday and azimuth is extremely unique in form of shape and movement. Make me think twice to choose those brand.  I think I'll play safe this time. Chopard Mille Miglia GTS is very nice. From the info I read, it use in-house Chopard movement. I'm not sure the MSRP for that model for sure it is higher than my budget. Thanks for those comment, and sorry cause I'm quite picky when choosing watches :)

Sevenfriday case shape is unique, not the miyota movement  ;D, I'm also try to avoid even a swiss movement if ibeats lower than 28,800 vph. Azimuth with movement with one hand, anti-clockwise is quite uniqe and new to me.

hi there

i think for 10k u can consider looking into bell&ross or a tag.

both good value for money
