For me, I bought a homage first to see if I could live with the size and need to wind the watch up every 2-3 days. I ordered a Getat, and after numerous delays, was thoroughly impressed with what I was getting. Build quality was pretty good in terms of size (slightly off, but really quite close), but was quite off in terms of weight. I was so impressed that when I saw they had an updated case with higher WR, I went ahead and purchased another one from them.
Yes, I liked my Tat so much that I even purchased an original Panerai rubber strap (which mounted almost perfectly), and had it on my wrist as a daily wearer for quite a few weeks. What doesn't make sense here is that the strap cost as much as the watch itself!

But, I eventually did get my Pam; and I love the heck outta my zero. Do I still wear my Tat? Yes, on some occasions. A beach holiday in Phuket, or when heading out for a jog. Mamak at a dodgy place also no problem.
So yeah, long story short... nothing wrong in my opinion to get a homage. But don't buy it because you "cannot afford a Pam" (if that is indeed the case). You only cannot afford a Pam... yet :-)
