hi watch lovers..

i've never understood the craze.. i'm trying to understand and hopefully pick up the craze.. is there a quick 10 pointer to learn the trait? all my watches were given to me.. a Sandoz, a Bell & Ross and a Graham.. don't even know how to figure out what models.. went to their respective websites but didn't help much..

seems the recommendations here are to start with pre-owned and work the way up.. always concerned of imitations and the what nots.. what are the confirmed alarms? are all the merchants here verified and reliable? to start, wifey's birthday is coming up.. thought off exploring some of the merchant's offerings here..

hope some of the experienced former here can kindly shed some light to this noobie..

thanks

If you really like watches, you'll learn along the way, most probably you will self educate yourself thru forum and google.

You'll started to know what is a dive watch, gmt, perpertual calander, anual calendar, automatic, chronograph, power reserve, minute repeater, how many VPH, bezel and the list goes on...

I don't know any formula or procedure to make yourself getting interested in watches, I syiok sendiri and learn along the way.

If you just looking to buy a watch for your wife, then any sales representative in any watch dealer can help you to decide based on your budget.

Stick around here long enough, self enlightenment can be achieved.

Hi Bro,
If for me best you figure out a range for your budget for the watch for eg 5k-7k....
Then sport or dressy.
Then you can shortlist the brands which meet both of this criteria to see what movement and other feature you can get to start.

Buying preown and buying new : if you want to sleep at night peacefully, go for new. And if it's for my wife I will buy new as HAVOC will be double if she finds out later I got her a bootleg watch.

The Malaysia Watch forum is a place you can buy pre own with peace of mind since many members vouch for them. Again this depend on you. One more tip, if the price is too cheap it usually is. So stay clear of this watches unless you know your stuff !

Too many con artist around this days no once can be sure anymore.

Milgaus coz its rolex & i dig the green saphire on blue dial.. jlc coz i'd like to have 1 square watch on a leather deployant buckled strap..

JLC for sure since you already have the green sub and the reason you have mentioned earlier, ie. Square watch
