Omega's aggressive product placement in movies
« on: March 27, 2015, 10:41:26 PM »
As we all know, Omega is trying to go upmarket. And of course, before this they already have featured Omega's in James Bond since Golden Eye and also some niche shows like The American (George Clooney's 3573).

This year, Omega is featured in two movies that I know off. One of them is 50 shades of grey. The main dude alternates between what looks like an Aqua Terra Chronograph and another Omega watch.

Another movie that features the main actor with an Omega is Transporter Refueled. You can see the Omega Speedmaster being featured in a very obvious product placement during the trailer. Not sure if I am allowed to post a link to the trailer so if you want to see it just YouTube for the new Transporter Refueled trailer.

I am very excited. As all this while, the Transporter series always feature Panerai very heavily.

Looks like SG is pumping serious money to get Omega out there.

Edit : Omega is the most desired brand in China for a few year running now. It occupies the 2nd spot in Switzerland behind Rolex but with two models occupying the top spot for most searched models in Switzerland.

omega is top contributor in Swatch, their limited edition can be 3,000 pieces
so for advertisement... they hv huge budget !

Marketing tactic, product placement will subconsciously affect the consumers mind, promoting the brand over others when the consumer thinks of watches..

Plus, as Chrisyen said, Omega has a huge budget
Seiko fan.....

As long as they have good product to back their advertising, why not?

I can see the brand catching up with the ladies as few of my female colleagues bought omega constellation right after bonus!

Yes, i fully agree with alexngbk.... As long as they have good product, so why not! In this luxury goods business, it's always about branding and managing consumer's perception....
