Tudor Pelagos strap versatility
« on: February 20, 2015, 07:47:47 PM »

(Bracelet)

(Nylon NATO)

(Leather NATO)

(Nylon NATO)

(Isofrane)

These were some options I've tried the Pelagos with and they all work tremendously well. No leather as yet.

Personal preference would be original bracelet and Isofrane, because they're both thick enough to match Pelagos' case that sit rather high. Isofrane hugs the wrist much better and with an orange 22mm piece, naturally provides a better balance on the dull gun grey titanium.

I would concur that the Pelagos was a rather versatile watch with different strap choices; although I had been using only its Tudor bracelet, Tudor rubber, and Tudor Nato for it to serve its duty of action thus far. It being a toolish and matt watch, I found that the 3 Tudor straps complement its looks very well, especially the Tudor Nato.

I won't be pairing it with the orange Isofrane though, something that I would reserve for my Planet Ocean with its orange numerals. However, I do think that black Isofrane would look swell on the Pelagos though.

NATO strap looks really simple and classy. Was it an optional purchase or from BBB?

Purchased from another BBB owner whom had this new and unused Tudor Nato strap lying around; so when I made him an offer, he was like, "Why not?". So now it's with my Pelagos

How hard or easy is it to change straps? I had the bracelet all this while and want to try putting the rubber strap for a change.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the easiest, it's definitely on the easier side. In fact, after a few rounds, I would deemed it as a 1 or 2.

The Pelagos Ti5 would come with its own comfy black rubber strap; but if you want to add a dash of colours, Isofrane would have many options available.

In all fairness, Tudor made a very very good titanium bracelet BUT... its rubber strap was a real disappointment except for the buckles. Compared to the Isofrane, stock Pelagos rubber is really nowhere near. Some case in point; rubber smell, thinner, attracts lint and dust, only in black.

I have been a rubber strap fan since I tried the Isofrane (at that point, there was nil local distributors as yet, unlike now). The only other rubber straps that I have tried that probably could give Isofrane a run for its monies, IMHO was the Ball vulcanised rubber strap (had that on my Hydrocarbon and Night Train DLC). The current silicone straps on the Seiko Tunas 50th Anniv were pretty comfy (to my surprise) but were lint magnet. The straps on Pelagos, I thought, was pretty cool direct from manufacturer. We needn't pay extra (unlike Rolex and RubberB), it was comfy, and mine wasn't smelling rubbery (it didn't have vanilla though) or attracting lint like crazy. And they now come in blue too. For something that was essentially complimentary (although one could argue that the price was already built-in), I had no complaints about it. One man's meat could be another man's poison, just my 2 sen.

Once you get the hang of it, you could even use a thumb tack to remove the spring from the end link!

It takes about 5-10mins of practice, but it's well worth the while if you like changing straps often.
