State of my little collection
« on: February 06, 2015, 08:34:20 PM »
I have been overly indulgent in 2014 and as a self imposed punishment, there will be no watch purchases in 2015.  Thought of sharing some photos taken of my little humble collection with a newly acquired lens.

Out:  Longines Legend Diver
In:  Grand Seiko SBGE001, Grand Seiko SBGA105, Nomos Ludwig, Zenith Heritage Star, Rolex Sub C.
Untouchables:  B&R Phantom as it is a wedding gift from my brother & Zenith Heritage Star as it is a gift for my wife to commemorate our first child.

A very nice collection indeed.

"there will be no watch purchases in 2015" - I tried, but it is easier said than done  ;D

A nice collection Yikkie

As you would expect, I guess, there is a "However"  :P

There is only one watch in your collection that I do not like...can you guess which one?

Cheers

Thanks for the kind words guys!     As for my favourite, it is a toss up between the GO Panomaticlunar and the GS SBGA105.  I love the GO for the unique asymmetric dial layout with a fantastic big date complication and the wonderful finishing of the movement with hand engraved balance cock.  The GS had me at hello with the dazzling finishing of the case, the mesmerising blue dial and the overall excellent fit and finish of the watch, which looks even better under a loupe!

My reviews are here:-

GS SBGA105: http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php/topic,13708.0.html

Thanks Nobby! I would have thought that there were 2 watches there that you will not like since you are allergic to all things GS.  :Laughing_on_floor:

Yikkie
You misinterpret my GS "issues" my friend  ::)
I actually LIKE the GS brand, they make some truly wonderful watches...I like them so much, that I owned a beauty myself at one time. Would I own another...no way, after the problematic ownership experience I had with GS. So now I just adore everybody else's GS instead - it's cheaper

The watch in your collection that I loathe, for purely cosmetic reasons, is that bloody awful black Phantom...change the monstrosity out for something more pleasing on the eye.
Cheers
Nobby

Hi Nobby.   I was just kidding with you.   Jokes aside, do give GS another try...you might like it this time... But if you don't, I promise to buy it off you at 50% off.  ;D As for the B&R, it is a watch that I will keep for life as it is a wedding present from my brother.  It is a fun watch to wear for more casual occasions and it does look better in the metal.

Thanks once again for the kind words guys!   Don't think that I will add precious metals to my collection in the near future as I simply could not afford it.  Will be nice to add a reasonable bronze watch to the collection as I am a sucker for the whole concept of patina.  Might also add an AP Royal Oak extra thin when I hit 40 and finally call it a day.

Whadaya mean "little collection"!!!!!

You should list the GO Panomaticlunar as untouchable. That IMO is a real keeper.
