SBDX012 arrival - some pics to start
« on: January 27, 2015, 07:59:45 PM »
Good looking piece. Dang its a tall piece. Very toolish but super retro cool too.

I have it now on a red stitched rubber strap..wonder what it would look like on a super engineer?

caseback very nicely done

solid workmanship overall, lume pip is recessed..bezel clicks cleanly with some slight back play
crown screws in nicely but doesn't catch by going anti clockwise?

domed crystal+high rehauts+sloped chapter ring makes for a very 'deep' dial.

the gold is very nice

brushed hands reminds me of the SBGx115's

red pip is a nice touch

nuclear lume

enjoy

*here's a different look

Really nice piece bro. Are there any significant changes as compared to the SBDX001 in regards to the technical specification or are the changes mostly cosmetic in nature? I believe there is a difference in price too if I am not wrong?

here we go

Difference from SBDX003 to SBDX012
-Gold print for the bezel font is true to the origin pieces - From Seiko's site, translated by google "the character on the bezel is subjected to a golden finish by anodic oxidation treatment of laser... By the electrolytic treatment anodized material, a surface treatment for generating the artificial oxide film. Color is born by the refractive index of the light..."
-Bracelet included
-4 line text on the SBDX012
-red light marker on the seconds hand

as well as diashield on the bracelet (and case?)

Not wanting to repeat myself, but....

The proportions of this watch are all wrong, which is a shame because the watch quality is very good.
The proportions make the watch look bloated, or dare I say it, FAT.  :Startled:

Cheers

Fantastic looking Seiko. Love the details and the "fatness" of it...

Wow! Very handsome looking watch. Eyes will surely be attracted to it. Enjoy wearing it!

This is a beautiful watch, and there I was thinking that it was relatively hard for them to come with a watch that looked significantly better than the standard SBDX001- but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and when SBDX012 looked like a cross of SBDX001 and SBDX003, it's a guaranteed hit. Excellent stuff  although I still don't understand why can't Seiko upgrade the latest itineration of the MM300 with sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and 22mm lugs. Then it'd be hard to beat.
