Your Opinion?
« on: January 27, 2015, 10:20:05 AM »
I'm planning to get a watch for my son 18 year-old birthday. Which is 16 years later. Will safe keep until he is 18.
My list as below:

Rolex 116710LN

Rolex 116710BLNR

Rolex 116610LN / LV

Which model worth to keep until 16 years later?
Prefer model listed above only, those high end or luxury one, he should work and buy one himself.

Updated with pics. (all pics borrowed from internet, thanks google)

i have 16610LV already. for myself, i am searching for good condition 16710 pepsi or 16660 sea dweller  ;)
I can pass down to him together with other watches if he want. LOL

Now just to get 1 to safe keep till he is 18. Actually planning to get it when he was born. But i opt to get for his mum first.  ;D

All those are too common, not special at all. If you have an old watch which is yours, give him that, much more meaningful. Otherwise at least buy him classy vintage Rolex instead of these modern gaudy baubles

A lot can change by the time he's 18 so it really should depend on what you can envision him proudly wearing when he eventually reaches that age. I think your son is so lucky to have a dad as generous as you.

That being said, if he's going to grow up to be a big lad, the sea dweller might be a better fit. If he's a little more expressive the batman would be spot on. Maybe he loves the simplicity of the submariner bezel? Too many factors at this moment.

My 2 shillings worth

Just need an iconic model which worth to keep till 18 years later. I still have other watches can pass down to him.
Just thinking of getting him a watch, let him start his own journey.

As for the vintage, by the time he grow up, my watches will become vintage already.  ;D
