Some Chinese made tourbillion movement is very affordable.( Well compare to swiss made..) If it is fitted with one I believe it can be priced within  4-digits.

There is a difference between tourbillon and display balance wheel.. this is what most people get confused about
A tourbillon is a balance wheel and a escapement wheel mounted in a cage, and rotates the cage while the balance wheel moves.. The whole tourbillon must weight less than 0.3g in order for the tourbillon to work, because it has to defy gravity, so the weight must be so light it wont have a down force pulling the cage. it is so diffucult to make because a normal balance wheel will already weight more than 0.3g. Therefore, tourbillon will not be cheap. Even Chinese made tourbillon will cost 5 figures.. Not cheap..

There is a HK based watch company that sells watches made from Chinese components, and that include tourbillion. Although sold out, but the price listed is USD 1740.00 Multiply by  3.50 is 6K plus.http://www.perpetual-watch.com/Tourbillon2.html
There are cheaper one around, go to watchuseek forum and check out the Chinese mechanical watches subforum, A forum project watch of tourbillion movement priced under usd 1K. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f497/initial-deposit-wus-chinese-tourbillon-project-watch-881462.html

Look at this picture taken from the internet of the solvil titus tourbillion, and decide for yourself whether a tourbillion or display balance wheel.

actually if you study more, you will know

tourbillon is not that difficult to make with today technology,
1- you can easily copy others idea how to make it
2 - small parts can be cut precisely by CNC machine
3 - light material is easily and cheaply available
4 - to assemble it also not as difficult

the difficult part is to regulate it to super accurate to justify the selling price and the selling point ( tourbillon mechanism compensate gravity force for better watch accuracy )

more so - china producing ready made tourbillon movement like above... any brand also can buy it for their watch !

i strongly belief its much more difficult to design a chronograpah from scratch to function than a tourbillon !

anyway - its good that we all can have affordable tourbillon, the visual impact from the tourbillon casing turning is beautiful !
who really care about the accuracy ? the theory behind ?

AD says its complicated, its difficult to make, its designed to compensate the gravity force for better accuracy !
so buy 1 to blow water and show off your tourbillon... pointing the tourbillon cage turning to your friend is joyful !
even adding on tourbillon alike bridges to balance wheel and 'open heart' it can make the watch sells...
so... tq made in china

actually i do kinda agree with tourbillon is so easy to immitate dis days... i too have a Chinese made tourbillon on a cheap watch costing only 3 digits (lower 1/2 of 3 digits).. accuracy wise.. better than my ETA 2824 (few watches).. lol.. might juz get this also for fun.. i gotta admit, it does really look pretty good...

have one open heart watch myself, i must say that seeing moving things does makes u want to adore your watch more. be it the spring, the second hand or the tourby itself. I too have encountered cheap tourby but did not pull trigger. I think you can differentiate between a normal spring, and a tourby spring. they somehow move alot faster.

that said, the solvi tourbillion does not pretty impressive. i wonder how much it is.
