There is one chubby guy at the chain store next to Robinson's Gardens who is very friendly. He knows his stuff and is not pushy at all.

So far, many of the Rolex AD's in Malaysia have been super snobbish to me when I ask about the Rolex Daytona. One guy even said "It'll take you three years to get it". Well, I could get it today for a premium price but decided not to. So yeah, cocky ones are a definite no no. You know, those guys that are like, judge you by the way that you look when you enter the store. I was in the Rolex at MidValley AD asking about the Rolex, when another customer came in wearing a Patek Aquanaut (the lowly Patek lol). Immediately the guy starts to ignore me and talks to him instead. What a jackass.

I went to the JLC boutique wearing clothes that were not high end. Simple T-shirt, shorts, slippers and my humble Tag Heuer. The lady asked for my number and contacted me a few times thereafter showing new pieces that arrived. I bought two JLCs from the boutique cause of her.

I was wondering if this is the norm in a Malaysian AD as I sometimes do get the "head-to-toe" once over by the SA in an AD. And then they will decide if I am a "worthy" customer before speaking to me.

My experience in a Hong Kong AD, wearing shorts, T-shirt and slip-ons and a Ball watch was fantastic. I only intended to try on a few pieces before deciding on which to buy at a later date. I got hot Chinese tea, very nice and knowledgeable SA and huge smiles. At the end of it all, I got a name card from that SA and was asked to come back after I have decided. And this was a random AD at a shopping mall in TST. This is not the first time I have walked into a random AD in HK and got this treatment. It is a normal occurrence here and this kinda solidified my perception that most Malaysian SA's as snobbish, don't know their products and they are superficial, looking only to serve people that they "deem rich"...shucks...so sad so sad...

Was that guy short and chubby?

I seldom buy from shop only go look see look see and those who know me I mostly casual like fuck.

So most of the time in those big shop they no fuck me if I keep quiet.

But if I ask to see watches the reaction I got from them 50/50 la,  some very friendly some luke warm,  some black face.

But one particular in MV called AWG give worse experience,  i walk in wearing my SKX007, i ask to see the Alpine watch then I ask price n discount,  then one much senior sales guy gave me harsh words like its good deal already la that kind of stuff in unfriendly tone.

At first I just keep quiet ignore his rude remarks,  then I ask to see some BR vintage series,  then he utter something which I read it as if I cant afford Alpine then BR is off my range.

I say thank you n walk off quietly,  i can see from his eyes and facial reaction to his junior staff he feel triumph to demonstrate how he fenced off a poor ah pek who cant afford expensive watches.

Peter say it well most sales ppl are not WIS they don't undersand what a SKX007 represent XDDD

Boikot the place. And spread the word. That's what they deserve.

Sales people should always be nice and accommodating if they want commission. If they don't then sorry, my money is going somewhere else.

In HK, probably either they are more "pro" or they are used to people who are not well dressed but can buy a lot of watches with cash (mainland chinese)

I normally like to observe the watch quietly without any salesman or girl interrupting me. Unless that salesperson are knowledgeble on the watch they sell.

But luckily the watch shop owner / owner's recognize me so i always get served by them.

The mainland Chinese are the ones who are dressed from head to toe in designer stuff. It is the regular folk who dress regularly.

Knowledge.
Discounts.
Potentials.

I donn't need a sale person to butter me up and I don't expect a sales person to know everything about watches like a talking encyclopedia. I need someone who offers me a big discount.

Perhaps MWF can issue a badge or some kinda ID or shirt, so that we can wear them to enable the watch shop staffs can easily recognize we are MWF member. ;D
