Help in finding a solid end bracelet for Orient Ray
« on: December 04, 2014, 11:40:50 AM »
Hi there good lads.

First and foremost, excuse me as I am fairly new in posting things here, and I am still in the learning process regarding watches.

I am humbly asking for advice or any kind of help  in finding a replacement bracelet for my Orient Ray, and I would love for it to have solid end links.
In my opinion, this watch is super awesome, if not for the stock bracelet, which just feels flimsy.
Anyone knows where can I find such bracelets that can fit nicely on the Orient?
the lug width is 22mm.

Thanks in advance!!

Solid end of Submariner's bracelet (I am looking for something like this!):

I do not own an Orient Ray, but I have not seen a SEL bracelet for that model, moreover much aftermarket (upgrades) for Orients.

If you're dedicated in getting a SEL, try looking for Seiko ones- like the ones for SKX models, which you could machine them to fit. Just a wild thought.

Cheers.

Yeah I couldnt find any on the net. :/

I am just hoping someone here owns one and can maybe try putting it on bracelets from omega, rolex etc.

Do you know a place where I can get the skx007 bracelet machined?

If it was indeed possible to modify the Seiko SKX bracelet into the Mako, then you may want to reconsider using the original SKX007 bracelet. Don't get me wrong- I am a Seiko fan, but the Seiko bracelets feel flimsy to me. In fact, I just purchased the Kinetic Tuna and even though those SUN bracelets had solid end links, the bracelet as a whole was still rather flimsy. So, if the SKX bracelet could be modified, that meant that you could get WJean's Super Oyster bracelet. It's an after-market bracelet that was meant to give the SKX a more-Submariner feel and there were lots of fans for this bracelet. Try Googling it, mate

Rarely would you find a bracelet that comes original with the watch from Jap watch companies to be good. Sadly.

hansrayney, Even bracelets by Rolex (subs) and Omega are pretty crappy. Disclaimer: those pre-current era. The older subs have horrible hollow end links and links which eventually stretch  ::)

Machining one would be ideal if u or u know someone who has a dremel. that's if there's material to shave off from a SEL oyster from WJean for example.

Sorry i dont have any good news or leads for you.  :-\

I am so thankful even for the effort you guys are putting up to help me!

Hmm upon googling on this topic, I saw a post in watchuseek where the guy took an aftermarket bracelet of 007 and fitted it unto the Ray.
It fits, but not perfectly:

I dont know anyone or anywhere that can do such machining. I might just have to purchase a new watch which comes with a SEL bracelet!  :P

hmm, the only thing ray left on it is the case as it has seiko skx009 bezel, sumo hands and probably skx033 dial.

anyway, i guess you probably realise by now the best choice for a watch with solid end links is to buy a skx007 with aftermarket bracelet :P

well actually, he has only changed the bezel and bracelet, everything else is ray's original parts.
But yeah, i realized that. But i kinda dislike the crown at the 4oclock position.  :P

better picture of the guy's watch(http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/bracelet-options-007-black-ray-887585.html):

Hi Guys,

I have gave up looking for a solid end link for this piece.
And might just as well flip it to get myself a higher quality sub homage.
However, i did find a better clasp for it off ebay.
Its in the mail now on its way to me.  :P
