I used to think 3 was sufficient......
But i seriously lost control and told myself I need a back up watch for each of the catogery i've set for myself.
Namely the dress watch, Sports watch & weekend watch

After some time, the itch gets bad and new Sub catogeriew are created.

However i do believe 6 is a good number.

2. Luxury sport
3. Dress
4. Chrono
5. GMT

To achieve this, one will need to make a lot of difficult choices (ie. APRO vs Nautilus, Calatrava vs ALS Saxonia, Speedy vs El Primero, SubC vs Planet Ocean), etc.

So my ideal suggestion will be is 5 X 2 = 10.
Two for each categories, just in case one sent in for service.
Needless to say, I am still way off from this target  :Laughing_on_floor:

I've just passed the no.6 mark. Haizz, my mom bising already, say I cannot have extra money, every time I have some, sure will bring a watch home.  :Laughing_on_floor:

for non-WIS : one watch is enough
for WIS : as many as possible

I have  more than 11 right now...most of my collection are related on tactical/military/aviation line and most of them fit with after market/custom strap...as a collector you will not satified what do you have...next model and strap will still catch your eye...

The ideal number to me is the lowest number you can be happy with... without feeling like you need more watches to fill up your display case.

As others have pointed out, the service cost is what scares me most.

I've seen quite a few old timer collectors on other forums insist that the older they get, the more they want to reduce their collection to just one or two watches that they REALLY like.

- dress in auto
- sports (chrono) in auto
- sports (diver without chrono) in auto
- maybe a manual wound?
- swatch/casio

But life is not so ideal, so the more the better  :Dancing_banana: :thumbsup:
