Bell & Ross winding direction
« on: September 03, 2014, 08:25:34 AM »
Hi sifu. Need some guide. I had put my br03-92 on a winder and set the rotation to clockwise. I have only 1 winder and its only set either clockwise or anti-clockwise.
Normally i would only put the watch on winder when i flipped watch, and the watch always functioning. Recently i keep using other watch and the br03 was on winder for about 1 week, wind the winder on auto, rotating clockwise. This morning i found the br03 dead. Is the winding rotation wrong? Dont the br03 using bi-directional winding mechanism?
Pls guide me  ???

So the watch using ETA2892 and its bi-directional. So there's nothing wrong with the winder rotation clockwise then..perhaps it was on minimal power reserve when i start putting it on the winder i guess..by the way the winder program was to run sometimes before resting for a quite long time before running again.

Then came another question: the said movement, can i manually wind it just to give a head start or to add power reserve occassionally?

Thanks for your kind guidance.. ;)

you can wind it

but if you wear for 8 hours and above, no need !

also BR01 came with screw in crown

screw in un screw screw in unscrew.... if you do it frequently, wear and tear of the screw thread for sure !

Thank you so much Sifu Chrisyen  you r the man

By the way, for manual winding should i turn the crown clockwise or anti-clockwise? Hmm..how many turn should suffice? Can the watch be overwind?

Thanks

To manually wind, turn the crown clockwise.
If the movement is bi-directional winding, you might want to set the winder to turn both ways.
But if you wear the watch frequently, then no need to place in winder, it's doing more bad than good.

I don't have an eta 2892 but I can say so far the winder I have been using is ok. Put it into the winder (wind both sides, mine can set) for a day and it has slightly more than a day of power reserve if you take it out without wearing. May bidirectional winding is more efficient but I still don't understand why your winder failed to wind the watch. Maybe time for check up?

My br03 was came back from serviced at FJ Benjamin on june this year. Been running ok as having good wrist time. It was my daily beater. Occasionally i put it on winder and works fine. I remember the watch was not in use for 2days n only after that i put it on winder. Perhaps the power reserve was on minimum when i put on the winder. Maybe the winder setting are not doing enough..
Time to buy Wolf winder maybe ???

My winder brand is Diplomat..got it from online. Nothing fancy. Only turns ether clockwise or anticlockwise. Setting was on for 1 hour n rest for 3 hours. Its stated that it rotates 700 times per day. Anyway..stop using it already. I just let the watch idle. Will manual wind when going to use it.
