No offence meant, but I think some of the forummers were complicating matters with additional demands towards the Pilot watch.
Firstly, I would opine that it was a meaningful gesture from Chris to have the Pilot in remembrance of MH370 and MH17. Check out the corporate adverts on "Remembering MH370" and/or "Mengenang MH370". These were put up in remembrance towards the incidents. It brings about humility, humanity, and a sense of togetherness. This was not an act of trivialising the incident- in actual fact, it was an active role towards remembering the planes and the lives on it.
Secondly, it would be tough enough for the organiser to spend time and effort on the design and ultimate execution towards the watch, let alone catering to collecting donations towards the incidents. It is always easy to talk, but the action and planning are the hardest. So think of the resources that we have in the manpower. After all, they do have a day job, or so I think.
Now, if you were to collect some donations from the proceeds and then going to (I don't know which organisation) to hand-over the donations with pictures and all a sundry, then I believe that that would just be our beloved forum making use of the tragedies for some cheap publicity. We don't need that. If you are really interested in charity, find out where you can make the contribution and do so personally. There's no need to pile the effort on the organiser. MWF doesn't need the publicity.
The objective was good- an MWF watch, until the many demands came flooding in. I say, let's stick to the watch. Let's make a good watch. One that you would put on and your thoughts go out to those whom were on the planes.
Heck, if having a Pilot would be so tough with 1001 requests and comments, then let's just stick to our normal Diver genre. And remember not to mention Titanic or James Cameroon's Dive or any other event on the watch.
Sorry, just my 2 sen.
