Datejust or Datejust II?
« on: July 08, 2014, 04:09:39 PM »
I used to shy away from Datejust but after reading a review, it totally changed my mind. Now I like the simplicity and history of DJ.

But now between Datejust and Datejust II, what significant differences are there between the two? Which one do you prefer and why?

Thanks.

Haha… don't blame me if you are poisoned like what it did to me :)

Here's the review:

Before seeing this review, I thought DJ was an old man's watch (even though I belong to this group myself). I never thought DJ looks so classy until this review. The author must have done a damn good job.

BTW, what's the price for a brand new DJ 116234 here in Malaysia?

Told you…  :Laughing_on_floor:

I prefer Oyster bracelet. Also PM me if you have a pre-owned 116234 or 16234!

For the Datejust range, I would prefer 36mm...

I would go with the 36mm Datejust- and if possible, a vintage one for the dome crystal. Datejust is a classic design and gentleman dress watch after all, so 36mm is just nice, IMHO. For a bigger dial size, I'll look at the sportier offerings from Rolex such as the Submariner and SD 4000. Just my 2 sen.

Here's my vintage 1601 from the 70s saying "Hi!"  :)

Rolex | Omega | Bell & Ross | Panerai | Seiko | G-Shock |

Agreed, 41mm is way too big for dress watch ... mind you the SubC is only 40mm ...... the 36mm DJ is the one but on the oyster bracelet would be nice, well not to say the jubliee bracelet not nice, okay also lar.

I vote for the 36mm as well...nothing beats that classic look, size and for a dress watch 41 is a little over the top.

Agreed with the explanation why we always think DJ is for ah pek. A change of bracelet makes DJ looks evergreen and classy.

I have had a DJ TT 36mm for many years.. I would pick the 41mm DJII for the contemporary dial colors, better lume and the updated 3136 movement. ;D

Was considering the Datejust II. Looks great but seems on the large side in reality (and I am actually standard height at 1.77M).

Will be getting the Sub C ND instead, which in my opinion is the perfect size.
