Putting an expensive item in a gym locker?? Poor chap, even lockers in premier golf clubs in the Klang Valley are not safe! :HammerHead: Hope the owner gets the watch back if the next owner unwittingly sends it to Richemont for servicing!

Ck I think PAM532 have dedicated watch box and I think it is different from the other PAMs.

If I ever come across any box-less PAM532 I shall PM you.

Just bring a claim against the gym.

Unlikely to succeed, as there are usually exclusion clauses or caveat on the usage. Further, how is the owner going to prove that he actually put the watch there and it was missing thereafter?  ???

i think most locker rooms will have a T&C stating something like "use at your own risk" or "management is not liable for any lost, blah blah blah" :Blue:

Onus of proof is always on the claimant.
There is still a ground to sue even with the clause is stated there.

Sorry to hear that unfortunate incident.

If we report to service centre,  will they notify the original owner if the stolen watch is sent for service/repair? I mean this on other brands as well. I heard rolex discontinued to monitor stolen rollies some time back so they won't verify the status of the watch.

Senior collectors pls enlighten..

This is really sad,  how could things like this happen?  I would be devastated if it happens to be me and i hope the owner gets his watch back .  Btw, mine is serial number 160 whereas his is 161  , for some reason i do feel sad for him !

Too bad if someone who brought it and dont aware its stolen goods. If sent to service centre, its very unfair for the owner to return the watch to the original owner. A huge sum of money alraedy been paid by the buyer.

I suggest for those expensive watches, please buy an insurance in future.

Beside loop holes
The management also shd consider the brand damage
For commercial reason also they need to responsible

Anyway. Enkidu- What's UR advise?

Hi Sifu's, can learn more on the insurance you guys mention here.
Does the insurance cover for theft like in this situation or home break in ? Cause both are quite difference to me.
One can be negligence or our mistake while the other is intentional break in by a real thief which harder to dispute.
They cover for both and who are the companies ? Thanks for the advice and help.

Never ever put expensive watch in gym lockers. I go to gym with the watch and shower with the watch. Since my gym is in klcc, where I work, I can't drop off my watch at home first. Best is to not wear watch at all to gym.

The insurance referred to is All Risk Insurance. As per its name, it covers all risks. For instance, you were looking over the ferry deck and your watch fell into the waters. It'd be covered. Or in this instance, it was stolen at the gym. Ditto covered too. The owner could also opt to sue the Gym and its Public Liability Insurance should cover for the lost. Anyhow, hope his watch is found soon...

Not cheap, its about 10% of you watch insured value, if you have multiple watch is value buy.

10% premium is very steep, mate. I believe the Worldwide All Risk - Personal Effects insurance falls under general insurance, so it is tariff-controlled pricing in Malaysia. I have purchased this insurance and IIRC, the premium is 1.5% of the insured sum, with an excess of RM150 per claim. But insurance companies are quite selective in taking this cover as All Risk Insurance can be subjected to abuse as it's more of a moral contract; in a sense that when you say that you suffered a loss, they have to pay. So it's not as common as say, motor insurance or home insurance. You can check further from your insurance agent.
