Best watch to choose for entry-level swiss made watch.

I am still new in the swiss made watches. This will be at my first swiss made. I still cant decide which one to choose. I have three option the Tag Heuer monaco chrono (CW2111), carrera calibre 16 (CV2A10), oris aquis date or the omega speedy pro. I also have interest with few Ball watches. Pheww, hard to make the decision. I want a stylish watch but not to forget the quality, background history of the watch, durable so that i can use with outdoors activities and most important is i can show off to friends in college. Haha
 
Most of my friends suggest me to go for oris because of the reasonable price. Not like the overpriced tag. I still don't know wether i really need the chrono function or not bcus i used to have a chrono watch before this and i never use it even once. I just bought because of the look. If you guy have any suggestion on other watch so that i can have a look? New or pre-owned is okay as long as it it below 10k. Cheaper is better as long as it is my first swiss made watch, no need to be more expensive . Thanks in advance

Your only contenders are:-
Monaco - sapphire, automatic, movement is not as per the vintage one (if you care)
Speedy Pro - Hesalite (plexi), manual, no date, basically unchanged (or minimal) since 1957

Agreed, a pre-owned IWC Pilot is the way to go.

It fulfilled all of your requirements, except maybe outdoor activities.

calibre 16 is an eta. one of the most reliable mechanism, very close to cosc standard. no doubt about it.

If i were you, i'll consider :

1. Preowned Omega Speedmaster 35th Anniversary ( white dial )
it's hard to find one in the market, consider as collector item, and should not be more than 10k

2. Preowned Rolex Submariner 14060 no date
It's just so simply and stylish, with the clean and masculine black dial, around 12K ( over budget for 2K )

3. New Tudor Heritage Black Bay
Last time when i ask in KLCC it's RM9500

it really depends on you, but for me i definetely won't go for tag

Thanks for your suggestion but for me rolex and omega only for old people. Haha. I'm just 20yo. With steel bracelet i dont think it will suits me. I want more stylish and suitable for young people. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

i would think a rolex explorer II 40mm is a nice thing to have at about 10k price. Or else if u wanna go all pilot action, pre owned IWC is my pick.

Rolex and omega for old people? Bro, you can't be more wrong. In my honest and brutal opinion, we will all grow old one day. Won't it be great if you already own a rolex then as opposed to buying one when you are at that age? Factor in the annual price increase and it won't seem like a really bad idea to own one now. Don't forget you are owning one of the most recognizable watches at a young age too. Buying pre-owned just means someone took the hit when they sold their watch off. It is the savviest way to own an expensive watch early as opposed to paying full retail new.

If you prefer strap, perhaps you could consider Oris Chronoris or Longines Legend Diver. Both are simple and well built watch with touch of historical background.

From your listed timepieces, I have the Calibre 16 Chrono and Aquis Date. I can safely vouch that both are good choices, although the value for money piece is the Aquis Date. Built like a tank, heavy on the wrist and goes for tuppence compared to more luxurious divers. However, the Calibre 16 Chrono looks better as a dress watch and has better wrist presence.

My wife's 24 this year. She got her 1st Rolex last year. It's a pre-owned as well.
Because of her professional work field line, instead of making her old, the watch puts her to the next level of professionalism status.

Agreed to a certain extent, buying first Rolex must be brand new ..... after that if you want more pieces that you want to trade up buy your 2nd or 3rd maybe you could look at pre-owned

Buy watch is to self shock, so for 1st watch, better buy new, 1) to ensure shock and 2) newbie (like me) dont know how to differentiate the fake, hence buying new eliminate all risk. (Off course buying from reputable shop may help)
