Hi Guys,

I'm in a dilemma to choose between a Hublot Classic fusion or panerai pam000. I actually love both of the watches design due to its simple and elegant design. The main reason why I choose both of these watches is due to my budget criteria being met. Below is the pros and cons why chose either of the watch.

Panerai PAM000- Pros
1. I like my watch to be simple and the case diameter should be more than 42mm.
2. I like the design of the crown. I was unable to find any other watch brand to have a similar trademark crown.
3. I m able to change the watch strap as easily as possible. Every few months I would be able to change the strap to different type of design.

Panerai PAM000- Cons
1. The watch material is made of polished steel.
2. It is not an in-house movement. However due to budget constrain I don't really mine the movement to be outsource(ETA) as long as I like the design of the watch.
3. This panerai PAM000 model is currently very hard to acquire due to limited stock in market.

Hublot Classic Fusion- Pros
1. I like my watch to be simple and the case diameter should be more than 42mm.
2. This watch material is made of titanium.
3. Easier to acquire compare to PAM000.
4. This watch design remind me of AP RO.

Hublot - Cons
1. It is not an in-house movement.

Below is the link to the watch URL.

http://www.hublot.com/en/watches/classic-fusion-titanium-opalin

http://www.panerai.com/en/collections/watch-collection/luminor/35-luminor-base-logo-pam00000

Finally, I really need other people opinion on which of the both watches are the best bet to pull the trigger. Besides that, I'm still open to other watch brand.  :-\

Thank You

It is an easy choice for me...the Panerai.  You are considering both for their design and case work as the movement on both watches are pretty standard ebauches.  The Luminor case is iconic and unique to Panerai...the Hublot is at best a decent homage to AP RO design language.  I will stay way clear of Hublot if I were you.  Oh...and you would most probably appreciate things that are more difficult to come by. Happy shopping.

Alternative brands? Why not consider the big size Omega PO or the Speedmasters? The IWC new Aquatimers or the Pilot Mark XVII also comes to mind.  If you are feeling adventurous, the Grand Seiko diver or GMT are also good bets.

In house movement or not, doesn't matter. Panerai doesn't have an in house movement either. They paid ETA to modify the movements themselves, thus its not considered as an in house movement but a modified movement. Some of the in house movement can be pretty terrible too. ETA is a very trustworthy movement, you cannot go wrong with it.

Zero for me. More history and more well known by watch enthusiasts.

Hi Yikke,

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't really like speedmasters because the watch dial looks to complicated. Besides that, I don't prefer Omega PO because i don't see the  preference for a diver watch. I like my watch to be simple and elegant.

Can anyone PM me a reputable grey dealer to acquire the Panerai PAM000??

Somehow, it is difficult to associate the words 'simple' and 'elegant' with Hublot.   ;)

Hi Yikkie,

I totally agreed that certain model in hublot looks complicated especially the big bang model. However, certain model in classic fusion look simple.

Thank You.

The dial of the Hublot Classic Fusion might be relatively simple but the case work and the size of the watch do not make for a simple and elegant looking piece.  Watches like PP Calatrava, Vacheron Patrimony, JLC MUT or Nomos Ludwig comes to mind when I hear the words simple and elegant.  However, that is just my personal opinion.  Buy the watch that speaks to your heart.

Hi Bro,

IMHO, one of the brand which might meet your criteria of simple and elegant is surely the Zenith Captain Series. Here's a few :

Captain Central Second

Captain Port Royal

Captain Ultra Thin

Anyways, it's always a personal taste bro. Find a watch that you really love watching day in day out. I'm currently having an affair with my Seamaster James Bond. Affordable, reliable, and most importantly soothes the eyes of the beholder  ;D ;D

Happy hunting bro !!

many valid points here by the bros...
am giving you another angle to consider
Ask yourself the possibility of you letting go the 000/Hublot when you have the itch or urge to upgrade to something else..
if that happens, you'll wish you're owning the zero..
all the best !

Hi Pexus,

It's around 15k, but you can get damn good discount if you 'ask' around  ;D

both very very very different in design

hublot classic - very fusion - missing the rubber with all kinds of material, high tech modern look

pam 0 - back to basic, 2 hands, vintage military look

i will say you shd buy both if financially affordable !

Hi Chris,

Thanx for the feedback but no money to buy both watches.

I already make up my mind to buy Panerai first as I feel it is necessary to be in my collection.

Probably later in the future i will get the hublot.
