With a budget from 4-5k, there are a lot more choices for you.

Luminox and Tissot will be a no-no for me if I have a budget like this. For ball, you can have a look at Train master Eternity too. The ETA used by the Eternity is higher end than the Legend and Victory.

Anyway, I'd suggest that if you have a budget like this, consider a Longines.

Thank you for your response   :D

Do you happen to know what's the pricing and which dealer distributing longines?

Currently the pricing I researched are all from online stores, I have no idea about the authenticity of the pricing

I think Tissot is a good choice for entry level automatic watches along with Mido and Certina. But with your budget, I'd be looking at Longines (Conquest collection), Ball, Oris and probably Maurice Lacroix. Anyways, what type of watch are you looking for? Sports & everyday watch, dress, divers' ?

I would buy a Longines Legend Diver at that budget...but if I were you, I would top up a thousand or two to buy a preloved Omega Moonwatch.

with ur kind of budget i would just bump in to any reputable watch shop in KLCC, Mid Valley, Sunway Pyramid, Bangsar, 1U, Starhill, Pertama complex & etc to look for Closer, Feel & Explore those brands like Ball, Oris, Longines, Maurice Lacroix, may be Mido & etc. Remember that u must Feel the Real Watch before buying. Real watch feel better on wrist rather just catalog/online. Most AD will give xx - xx% discount.... just negotiate.

(Mods- no discussion of discount allowed)

I think oris, ball and longines are all good options.
The recent Celcom 100 Tag Heuer campaign has somewhat further lower my desire to own any tag heuer  :-\

Seiko Marine Master
An used one perhaps.
I totally agree with getting a marine master. If you don't mind quartz. An automatic MM will set you back a few thousand more. I keep reading all these, "what is best" threads and most will recommend "Swiss" watches. why not Seiko? Most people perceive that this is a cheap Japanese watchmaker and the nicer ones does not warrant such a retail price.

In any event, if you do prefer a Swiss brand, I would be more than happy to recommend Ball. Even if they have ETA movements, Ball watches are built tough. And they will suit your budget. If you really can stretch your budget a little...why not give Seiko a try?
As for me...I play the patience game. Whenever I have an itch for a certain watch, I will wait for a month. I will go try them out at different shops, so that I don't annoy the salesperson :). Do research online to search for wrist shots, specs and price differences. If I still want that particular watch, budget permitting, then I will go buy it.

So good luck with your search...and do keep us posted on what your decision may be.

Cheers/Patrick
