Tag Heuer Service Woes
« on: May 12, 2014, 11:27:53 AM »
Hi guys, I'm from Penang. Few months ago, sent my Tag to the outlet at Queensbay Mall to change battery. They said they will quote me for the job before they proceed. A few weeks later, I received a quote which was quite high. So, I thought forget about it. After asking around, I found it could be done locally from one of the more reputable shops for a fraction of the price. So I told the Tag SA to send my watch back. And then I waited....after a few months, the SA called and said I could collect d. I wanted to confirm that nothing had been done, but they actually had the battery replaced and some parts changed. I said I could not accept it. Now, they're sending my watch back to KL to get the battery removed and the parts taken out. And I have to wait again...

So what if the watch comes back and they do something to it? Maybe make it can't work anymore? How la?

Anyone experience this before?

They quoted me RM600+. I was told I could get the battery replaced in Penang for under RM100.

almost any watch shop can do battery change... problem is usually they don't do pressure test after that...

so if touch wood, water manage to seep in... you won't be able to claim warranty...

changed my F1 battery and plastic casing for rm720 (rm120 for battery and rm600 for casing).

rm600+ for battery only is absurd.

btw i went to lvmh kl too

They never said. They just mentioned some parts. Maybe I should just take the watch to LMVH directly when I get it back.

BTW, anyone know a good watch shop in Penang who can check my Tag properly?

Thanks guys.

Maybe the changed the quartz module or pins/seals/crown? It would have been better to ask what was done for the amount charged before asking that it be undone.

I did ask. The SA couldn't say. Just told me change parts. SOmething about the battery draining fast. Which I found to be absurd, cos it's been more than 3 years since the last change (which according to the manual is the approx life of the battery). Anyway, I find that the shop here is just all about 'sales'. Support is crap. The first battery change years ago was done when I was in KL at LMVH. No such problems and no such price.

Quartz modules can break down. It's electronics after all. Breaking down doesn't mean not working, maybe just a higher current consumption which will eventually lead to short battery life.

It's been almost 5 months. Sigh...

After a lot of complaining and grumbling, I managed to get my Tag back. And that is with me going down to LVMH personally to pick it up.

Owning at least 2 Tags does make it more painful. Hope all ends well.

There was a big misunderstanding regarding what was to be done and after the dust settled, they replaced the crown and put back the old battery. Total cost...= RM0

I offered to pay for the crown, but they said not necessary.

The lady at LVMH was very apologetic about the whole mess.

I'm not going back to the Tag Heuer boutique in Queensbay Mall every again.

I just realized the triangle thingy above the 12 o'clock is missing.  :Startled:Crap...

I suppose it's back to LVMH then.

i pass the shop quite regularly.  Hardly see customers there.  Not surprised if the SA lack the experience needed to handle real customers.
Hope it all ends well for you.

Long story short, they did give me a quote which I didn't agree with. And they proceeded with the work anyway. Eventually, after months of dilly dallying, I finally got my watch back.
