it was relatively cheap back b4 the discovery in mid 1990s.
not many crazy PAM lovers back in 1990-1995.

Scott, why say so the P2002 was so so only? My door is always open for u 233

watch stop before PR reaching 0, GMT hand not align, day night indicator not able to correctly... etc... not just me but others having the same problem.. the watch/movement was introduce back in 2006, i got mine in 2008, less then 2 years

But, i do have to admit, 233 is darn nice looking watch

To me, it's all about marketing.. i have to admit, Panerai did a very good job in term of selling their history

As Chiew/Chris pointed (and i always say), get a basic Panerai if you like the design (I like PAM217/127, PAM210, PAM000/005, PAM24) and IMHO, the basic model has the strongest DNA from its history... the one that Pete posted, the design is nice, but i don't really fancy how they sell or trying to "imitate" their history in today's modern release... like keep "goreng" the same thing over and over again... sorry, no offend to all die-heart Panerai fans... i love'd' panerai too

All very valid points by actual owners of the watch.

For me although i like the history that PAM has i am still not convinced on it (yet) . Maybe its my price to satisfaction ratio.

What i can suggest you to do is to get some homage of PAM (not replicas) and try it on to see if you like it or not.

I did that with a Luminor and Radiomir case variant. I found out that i have no love for the luminor case so i sold it.
Ended up selling the radiomir case as well but thats another story.

So at the end it would be hard for me to buy a real PAM as much as the history attracts me, because i have too many choices now for the same price range.

I must say Richemont doing a good job on Pam. Just like how LVMH revived Heuer, if not better.
They purposely (or not) limit the supply, knowingly the demand is great out there, in order to push up the price.

Scott, I don’t see any 233 shortcoming as LOVE is BLIND…   ask yourself despite all the shortcoming at that price point would u able to get a in-house movement watch pack with 8 days PR + GMT function?? If I not wrong the P 2002 was design by JLC (solely for PAM) so it shd be quite reliable... 

btw any 1 here had any problem with their P 9000 series movement???

Dennis, at that price, a lot le... most of the stainless steel JLC 8 days selling much cheaper then 233 My new Grande GMT (8 days + GMT + day night indicator + GMT different indicator + big date) is much cheaper 

It's very possible JLC did helped in the P2002 development since they are belong to the same group  anywhere, maybe just my luck ;p... mine is J series... i heard the problem suppose has resolved after the i series.. i saw some post somewhere, the same problem happen in K series too... so, i hope Panerai can do better QA and don't let us down

in late 90's 6k is about the price for Panerai Marina Luminor and that's when I first saw my boss wearing it and fall in love with since then

I don't have PAM or Rolex.... maybe too poor to buy it... Hahaha....

Only had opportunity to see my friend's watch, I must say PAM is one of the desirable watch to own. Just to hold it, feel it & wearing it... you will know why it is so special. I love it simplicity design & it has the 'X-factor'.... don't know how to say this.... I just love it.

i just like the watch....and well! another plus point is able to change straps.....come on! those who haven't seen those lovely & beauiful aftermarket strap pls dont say this watch sucks...or not worth it...

just take a look at those straps....by changing the straps..you actually change the looks of the overall watch.....

damn! really love to get one! hahaha! but really too costly!

well! for me...first buy..will be a rolex...very conservative way! but this is the best bet...i know the watch will always retain its value..and its evergreen...anytime..there will be someone who wants it.

then second...go for the panerai.....

then third....go for lots of panerai straps....da luca, heroic 18, JnS, swiss ammos....wowow!! i want..hahah!

chrisc, that's really depend what you buy, not all rolex retain value and can make money when you sell it. But it's true that it fetch better price when you sell it... Panerai too, the resell value for PAM is good too...
